It’s all about relationships, and any time we can have one of our suppliers come in to our agency and share updates about what they’re doing is another opportunity to build on that relationship. A big thanks to Adrian Weekly with Project Expedition for coming in on Friday and sharing with our staff and outside advisors. We learned a lot and we’re excited about what PE can help us offer to our clients when it comes to curated experiences!

An update from the New Orleans airport

Airlines at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport plan to resume operations in the afternoon on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025. Airlines will continue to evaluate if additional cancellations will occur on Thursday, Jan. 23 based on conditions in the local area as well as on the airfield.

Passengers are advised to check directly with their airlines for the most up-to-date flight information and are advised not to come to the airport unless they have a confirmed departure.

Airline specific updates can be found at flymsy.com/2025-winter-weather-updates.

BTR is open!

📢THE UPDATE WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR📢 :

The airfield is officially OPEN, and we’ve just welcomed our first arrival! While the airfield is ready, airlines have decided to resume flight operations tomorrow morning. The first departure will be United Airlines to Houston at 7:15 AM.

Please be aware that delays are expected throughout the morning as flight schedules across the country recover from the storm’s impact. Passengers should continue monitoring their flight status by checking their airline app or contacting the airline directly.

And last but certainly not least, a huge thank you to our amazing crews and partners for their hard work, and to our passengers for your patience and understanding during this time. We’re grateful you choose BTR as your hometown airport.

Wishing you all safe travels✈️ and a GOODNIGHT💤!

An update from BTR…. New Orleans International also has the potential for more canceled flights on Thursday. Check in with your airline to see what the status is before attempting to go to the airport.

From Baton Rouge Airport…

As of 11:43 a.m. on Wednesday, the airfield remains closed to all aircraft except for emergency helicopter operations due to heavy snow and ice on most surfaces. The airfield closure remains in effect until 6:00 p.m.. This could be extended if conditions are deemed unsafe. However, our Airport Operations and Airport Maintenance personnel, with the assistance of two DOTD motor graders, are working diligently to clear Runway 13-31 and the primary taxiways to reopen the airfield as soon as possible.

If you have flight plans Wednesday or Thursday out of BTR...

From Baton Rouge Airport: Due to significant snow and ice accumulation, the airfield remains closed to all aircraft except for emergency helicopter operations. BTR has received over 6 inches of snow, with much deeper snowdrifts across the airfield. As of 6:37 p.m. on Tuesday, heavy snow and ice remain on all paved surfaces. Our crews are working diligently to reopen the airfield as soon as possible. However, flight cancellations are expected to continue throughout Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

01/21/2025

⚠Winter Weather Update⚠ : As the storm approaches, American, Delta, and United are starting to cancel flights. We expect these cancellations to extend into Tuesday and possibly Wednesday.

If you’re planning to travel this week, please take the following steps before heading to the airport:

🔹 Check Flight Status: Stay updated by contacting your airline directly or using their app for the latest on delays, cancellations, or rebooking options.
🔹 Allow Extra Time: Be prepared for possible road closures, detours, and hazardous driving conditions that could affect your travel time to the airport.
🔹 Stay Informed: For local weather updates and emergency information, visit the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security’s page at brla.gov/emergency.

Stay safe, stay warm, and stay informed.

Attention Travelers:

If you have flights scheduled Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, BTR just sent an update...

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) is preparing for a winter storm expected to bring freezing temperatures, ice, and hazardous conditions this week, which could disrupt flight schedules and operations.

⏳ Timing: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from midnight tonight through midnight Tuesday night. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing for much of the week.

✈️ Airline Updates:

United Airlines: Flights temporarily suspended for Tuesday, January 21.
American Airlines: Morning flights scheduled but may face delays or cancellations.
Delta Airlines: No changes announced yet.

🚨 What You Need to Know:

Check Flight Status: Contact your airline or use their app for real-time updates.

Plan Ahead: Allow extra travel time as icy roads and bridge closures could cause delays.

Stay Updated: Visit brla.gov/emergency for local weather updates.
BTR teams are working 24/7 to deice runways and aircraft to ensure safety. Check before you go, and stay safe!

❄️ This is "Sneaux" Crazy!❄️

Y’all, a SNOWSTORM is hitting South Louisiana. Yes, you read that right. We’re not sure if we should stock up on bread and milk or dig out ski gear we don’t own. ⛄️

Because of this winter "wonderland" we're about to experience, we’ll be CLOSED Tuesday, 1/20, and possibly Wednesday. While you’re stuck inside watching snowflakes fall on your gumbo, why not plan a trip to somewhere that’s… not frozen? 🏝️

🌴 Imagine:
✔️ Warm sand instead of icy driveways
✔️ Flip-flops over fuzzy socks
✔️ Drinks with umbrellas, not space heaters

We’ll be back (once we thaw out) to help make that dream a reality. And we'll be posting some ideas while we're all hunkered down in our houses, so be sure to check back here in between your snack breaks. Until then, stay warm, y’all! ❄️✨
