What to eat in ? 🍇
1. Traditional Samarkand Plov🍛
Samarkand Plov is the pearl of Uzbek cuisine.
What characterizes a traditional Samarkand plov is that the ingredients aren’t mixed during cooking: the meat is fried at the bottom of the kazan, then the chopped carrots are added together with water so they don’t get a chance to brown, and finally the rice goes on top and remains white.

2. Cheakpeas with lamb🥩
Chickpeas stewed until they’re so tender they almost dissolve into broth, with lamb that’s almost equally as juicy and soft. It’s a hearty dish, and well worth a visit as a second lunch in Samarkand.

3. Kazan Kabob for the real meatlovers🥩
Kazan-kabob is a classic dish of Uzbek cuisine. It is hard to find something more delicious than succulent meat with fried potatoes seasoned with spices.

What to do in ?☀️

Get 3 tips from Elite Tours International❗️

1. Visit traditional Uzbek show at Sherdor Madrasah💃🕺
At 7:00pm every evening (except, apparently, when they don’t feel like doing it), there is a traditional music and dance show in the courtyard of the Sherdor Madrasa.
A small group of 5 men play instruments while several others sing and dance. The backdrop of the performance is the beautiful interior walls of the courtyard, lit up with colorful lights.

2. See a papermaking process at the Meros Paper Mill.📜
Interestingly enough but the production is manual and the visitors can watch a papermaking process with their own eyes. The territory of the mill is really picturesque: shady trees, Siab river with bubbling water, a small tea house at the entrance to treat the visitors with a delicious Samarkand pilaf and fruits, charkhpalak – a water wheel, decorated with antique vessels flowing with water.

3. Taste spirits at the Museum of winemaking🍷
There is a large room with some old winemaking tools on display that you can wander around before heading into a room with a large central dining table. Here you’ll get to try 10 different alcoholic beverages for 50,000 UZS per person. There are 3 dry wines, 4 dessert wines, 2 brandy’s, and 1 medicinal liquor similar to Jagermeister.

Samarkand is the star attraction in a country that is laden with beautiful sights and historical treasures.

We have chosen 3 must-see attractions in Samarkand for You!

1.Explore the heart of ancient Samarkand, Registan Square.🕌
Historically, it was a marketplace full of tents, farmers, and merchants.Timur’s Registan ensemble is composed of three ornately decorated madrassas: Ulugbek, Sher Dor, and Tilya-Kori.

2. Shah-I-Zinda. 🌙
The origins of this necropolis begin 1,000 years ago with the cousin of the prophet Mohammed who is believed to be buried here. Being divine and all he didn’t die, and instead took his head into a well where he drank holy water and became immortal, hence the name Shah-i-Zinda, meaning the “The Living King”.

3. Gur Emir Mausoleum. ✨
Completed in 1404 we learned that this was the inspiration for the Taj Mahal and you can certainly see the similarities between the two structures. Although the heavily restored interior of this mausoleum is far more impressive than the Taj Mahal’s.

Join 8 days tour to Uzbekistan “One Thousand and one nights”.🌠
(Tashkent – Samarkand –Bukhara – Khiva –Tashkent)

If you don’t have time to travel the entire length of the Silk Road, Uzbekistan is the perfect week-long glimpse into it. Located in the center of Eurasia, it played a key role back in the days not only in the trade of gold, silk, and spices but also of culture and religion.🕌

Missionaries, scholars, and musicians who passed by the Silk Road hubs of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva brought Islamic art and teachings along with them. You’ll see these 4 key cities bustling with beautifully ornate madrasas, mosques, and minarets — scenes you’d only expect to see inside a chapter of One Thousand And One Nights.✨
