First hand account of Tobago Cays just now! Lisa, our Operations Manager, visited the islands last week to take aid, and also to enjoy a little R&R! She reports that the sea is glorious and clear, the wildlife abundant and the beaches have already had a good clean up! Vendors are already offering beach BBQs and there were about 12 yachts moored in the Cays

Union Island update from Jeremie Tronet from JT Pro Kitesurfing on Saturday.

"Another crazy day today, but tomorrow is Sunday and we have the plan to finally go to my land and build that storage I have been waiting to build for a month but was to busy with the relief effort. Luckily we are kindly housed at the Bougainvilla hotel!!

Accomplishment of the last 48 hours
✅Started a boat engine repair program where we pay for the local speed boats fixed 7 for now with the local mechanic
✅Started a hull repair fund to buy epoxy and fiber glass to some damaged local speed boats.
✅Contracted the local electrician with one of our staff to set up some of the 20+ generators distributed the last week.
✅Started the clean up of the water front of Kitebeach and anchorage with the help of the Canouan workers paid by Mr Wace
✅Distributed a lot of mattresses, solar lights and solar fans late at night to several people in need.
✅Expended our shelter camp to house several new people that didn’t have a house.
✅Donated several tents.
✅Set up large shower cabin systems to two shelters
✅started our new house repair program by contracting a local contractor and identified our first house to fix.
✅purchased some material to fix some houses where people fix it themselves.
✅ last but not least we donated one of the flood lights to the Tobago Cays BBQ to light up the area for when they start selling at night. (Nick aka Romeo is already selling his bbq during the day)

Today is World Indigenous Day. There are two identifiable indigenous groups in St Vincent that descended from Kalinago (Caribs), now numbering in all approximately 3,000, who live at the extreme north-east tip of the island of St Vincent. Some are regarded as ‘pure’ or ‘yellow’ Caribs, (Kalinagos) others as ‘black Caribs’ (Garifuna). The latter are descendants of the island’s original indigenous population who intermarried with Africans brought to the Caribbean during the colonial plantation era.
