No matter where you stay on island, I recommend renting a car. One of the wonderful things about Virgin Gorda is that it is small, safe and easy to drive around. A car gives you the freedom to explore all that Virgin Gorda has to offer from the beaches, to Gorda Peak, the Coper Mine or the many fantastic restaurants on island. We always rent from L & S, they are a short stroll down the hill from the villa making it easy, plus they are really great people!

Virgin Gorda - no filters needed!

Figuring out how to get to Virgin Gorda is some times the hardest part. We usually fly to St Thomas and then take the local ferry to the BVI. If you travel on Saturdays there is a direct ferry from St Thomas to Virgin Gorda, on other days you’ll have to switch ferries in Roadtown Tortolla. Some people find it is worth the expense to take a water taxi and some fly directly to Beef island and take a ferry from there. Virgin Gorda has an airport (VIJ) but not a lot of flights.

Virgin Gorda is in store for some rough weather the next 24 hours. Stay safe BVI! (And the rest of the area!)

NEOC ACTIVATED AT LEVEL 1 FOR TS ERNESTO

The Virgin Islands is currently under a hurricane watch in association with Tropical Storm Ernesto, which means that hurricane conditions are possible in our area within the next 12 hours.

Governor Daniel Pruce has activated the National Emergency Operations Centre at Level 1, which is a monitoring phase.

Residents should rush to complete storm preparations by this afternoon and prepare to remain in a safe space tonight and tomorrow as the storm passes. Non-essential government offices will remain closed on Wednesday, August 14.

Residents should also follow updates from the Department of Disaster Management.
