Our last charter of the season did not disappoint! We had such a great time with this lovely couple! Certified a new diver, ate delicious food, celebrated a 50th birthday, and saw beautiful beaches and sunsets! Looking forward to sailing (and diving) with you again! ❤️

Did you know lionfish are invasive in the Caribbean? A single lionfish can lower the recruitment of reef fishes by up to 80 percent! In other words, lionfish are not allowing native fishes to grow and fully populate a reef.
This is also detrimental to coral health as many native reef fishes are herbivorous and keep corals healthy by controlling algae overgrowth. 🪸🐠
Without natural predators, it is up to us to fish them whenever possible. The good news? They are delicious and very easy to catch!

Come sailing on Physalia, catch a lionfish, help the reef, and enjoy a delicious meal! We will teach you how to safely catch and clean a lionfish by avoiding and removing its venomous spines!

Responsible lobster catching and eating post! ‼️🦞 Please read!

Have you heard of lobster tar spots? 🤔
On the left is a male lobster, and on the right is a pregnant female lobster with a tar spot!

You already know that you must release pregnant female lobsters. It’s obvious when you catch a lobster and notice thousands of eggs on her belly. But what about when she’s pregnant and hasn’t released her eggs? There is an easy way to know!

When lobsters mate, the male leaves fluid on the female’s belly which turns black and is known as a “tar spot.” If you catch a lobster with a tar spot, be aware that this is a pregnant female that is about to release her eggs! 🤰🦞
Whenever we catch a pregnant lobster (either with visible eggs or just a tar spot) we let her go! However, time and time again, we see posts on social media of people catching and cooking pregnant lobsters without realizing they are doing it! So, next time you notice a black spot on her belly, release the mommy to be and feel proud of your actions. Hope you enjoyed this fun fact and use it to your advantage as a conscientious foodie! 😊 🦞

7 and 5 pound lobsters!! 🦞 🦞 This truly was an all you can eat lobster experience! We ate until we couldn’t and still had leftovers! (which will be put to good use for future meals!) 😋 Big thank you to Kelly's Land & Sea Tours for taking us out to the reef!
