About 7%-8% of Vietnamese are Christians, so for most of us on the 25th hardly a present will be given.

Yet surprisingly, the festive season has become a big deal in Vietnam! Shops sell every imaginable decoration and fat Father Christmases are everywhere. A vast array of coloured lights and artificial trees attract the Insta crowd and our churches prepare for Midnight Mass. On Christmas Eve, thousands of young people will crowd the streets and hang out with their friends.

On Christmas Day our country will operate as normal, with hardly a turkey or cracker in sight - just another day in Amazing Vietnam!

𝑼𝒔𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑩𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈

The Golden Hands Bridge is located in Sun World's Ba Na Hills Resort. It’s about 40 kilometres (25 miles) west of Da Nang city in central Vietnam.

The bridge has become an 'Instagram' sensation for many visitors to Vietnam. But it's not a stand-alone attraction, your ticket includes both the bridge and resort attractions.

And given the mountain location, its breathtaking views across the mountains to Da Nang and the East Sea are weather dependent - when hot & sunny in Da Nang, the bridge can be wrapped in clouds.

For all visitors, Ba Na Hills is reached by a spectacular cable car system, climbing some 1450 meters to near the peak of Mount Chua. The cable car base station is easily reached from either Da Nang or Hoi An, and also from the cruise ports of Tien Sa & Chan May. It is not possible for visitors to drive directly to the resort via the mountain road.

The bridge opening to the public in June 2018. Just 150 meters long, it can be uncomfortably busy. 𝙏𝒐 𝒃𝙚𝒂𝙩 𝙩𝒉𝙚 𝙘𝒓𝙤𝒘𝙙𝒔, 𝙩𝒉𝙚𝒓𝙚'𝙨 𝙙𝒆𝙛𝒊𝙣𝒊𝙩𝒆𝙡𝒚 𝒂 𝒓𝙞𝒈𝙝𝒕 𝒂𝙣𝒅 𝒘𝙧𝒐𝙣𝒈 𝒕𝙞𝒎𝙚 𝒕𝙤 𝙫𝒊𝙨𝒊𝙩!

Gifted schools fall into two categories: provincial and university-affiliated. Each of Vietnam's 63 provinces has at least one high school for the gifted. Entrance is based on test results and is extremely competitive.

Huế City has both provincial and university-affiliated gifted schools - 'Quốc Học High School dates from 1896 (the 3rd oldest in Vietnam), and is particularly photogenic!

Huế City is a genuine value-for-money experience, and worth a day of anyone's time!

Just a few kilometres south of pretty Hoi An, and an easy drive from Da Nang, is the quiet coastal village of Tam Thanh. Famous for its painted murals, it remains at heart a quintessential Vietnamese fishing village. 𝗪𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆

Invited by friends, Man, Sia & Baby Ngan flew to Sydney & Brisbane for their very first visit in early October.

It was a good time to visit. November, December & January are traditionally the busier months for international visitors to Vietnam, so a short break beforehand was welcome!

With Australian visitor numbers slowly recovering to pre-pandemic levels plus additional direct flights by VietJet & Vietnam Airlines, this was an opportunity to learn more about Australia and its wonderful people!

Over 12 days, Man’s family embarked on an adventure of a lifetime, exploring some of Australia's most iconic landmarks and breathtaking natural wonders. From the awe-inspiring Opera House and 309m Sydney Tower to the rugged beauty of the Blue Mountains and tranquil beaches of Nambucca Head.

They delved into Queensland's rich history and culture at the fascinating Queensland Museum, took in panoramic views of Brisbane from The Wheel, and got up close and personal with adorable koalas at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. And, last but not least, they enjoyed the sun, sea and sand of both the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

Thank you, Gary & Sharron Dale. Very special friends for many years, it was so lovely to meet you in your country and experience true Aussie hospitality!!

- 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮'𝙨 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚!

In 1687 a citadel was built in the village of Phu Xuan, becoming a powerful symbol of the Nguyen family. In 1744, Phu Xuan officially became the capital of central and southern Vietnam.

In 1802, Nguyen Anh, a successor of the Nguyen lords, rebuilt the citadel entirely and established it as Huế city the capital of all of unified Vietnam. Hue was not only the political but also the cultural and religious centre under the Nguyen Kings, the last royal dynasty of Vietnam, from 1802 to 1945

Today the citadel is the centrepiece of modern Hue City, and with so much history on offer, what was ancient Phu Xuan is a must-see place from Da Nang.

Recently, London-based ‘𝙄𝙉𝙆’ - 𝙖 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 retained us as Local Fixers for a YouTube movie to be partly filmed in Hoi An. As one of a series made for 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜.𝙘𝙤𝙢 and with Eric Nam as the 'star'!

Eric is an American singer, songwriter, and television personality based in South Korea and very popular, especially in SE Asia. He's just released his third English album called 'House on a Hill'

An interesting change to our usual touring 'duties', we really enjoyed working with Eric and the staff from INK.

Returning To Vietnam After 7 Years

We were really happy to say 'Xin chào' to two dear friends from Singapore. We designed a special 5D4N holiday with Mrs Annie & Mrs Ming Lee, which included pretty Hoi An, cosmopolitan Da Nang city, our imperial city of Hue and of course, 𝑩𝙖 𝙉𝒂 𝑯𝙞𝒍𝙡𝒔!

Birthday Celebrations in Vietnam!

12 fantastic Aussies joined us for a long day celebrating a significant birthday together. With a 6:30am start, we packed in Ba Na Hills, Marble Mountains and the ancient town of Hoi An. We included authentic Vietnamese food and Hoi An's pretty evening lights.

National Day or Independence Day (Ngày Quốc Khánh) is a national holiday in Vietnam, commemorating President Hồ Chí Minh reading the Declaration of Independence of Vietnam at Ba Đình Square in Hanoi on 2 September 1945.

This is a significant holiday that symbolizes our country’s sovereignty and independence. On Saturday (and over the coming long weekend), various patriotic events and festivities occur throughout Vietnam. Da Nang will be busy - a great time to be in town.

𝑺𝒐, 𝒂 '𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕' 𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝑽𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒏𝒂𝒎’𝒔 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒚!
Just days after the end of WW2, Hồ Chí Minh read the Declaration of Independence in Hanoi. This marked Vietnam’s intent to break free from colonial rule and determine its own destiny.

Because, by 1945, Vietnam had been under colonial rule for nearly a century. Initially as part of French Indochina and then occupied by Japan during WW2.

The declaration by Hồ Chí Minh and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam marked the beginning of our country's long and challenging struggle for independence.
