But the most famous and mentioned by many people is probably Linh Ung pagoda in Son Tra peninsula - the largest temple in Da Nang in terms of both scale and artistic architecture.
The legend of Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula:
None really know what the truth is, but according to the words of the people living in this area, they said. It usually happended with typhoons and storms here in the past. And in the reign of King Minh Mang under the Nguyen Dynasty (19th century), a Buddha statue drifted to this sandy beach from somewhere. The people saw this as a good omen, so they together established a temple for worshipping here.

Also from this day, the whole area is always calm and the sea is calm, the people of the fishing village also sail smoothly, doing business peacefully for a long time. From this legend, the sandy beach area is called Bai But - which means Buddha in the middle of the world. This is also the place where Linh Ung pagoda was built today.

Over the years, the temple is still standing there, where Buddhist activities take place and is a tourist attraction near and far.
Architecture of Linh Ung Pagoda on Monkey Mountain:
Although it is not the first Linh Ung pagoda in Da Nang, it is the largest of the three temples of the same name. Linh Ung Son Tra Pagoda has an area of about 20 hectares, including major items such as: Main hall, Hau To, Lecture hall, monks, staff, rent, guest house, statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, tower relics, ... and small items such as Deer Garden, Lumbini Garden...

Architectural items are built with extremely sophisticated architecture. In which, the main hall is roofed with curved roof tiles in the shape of a dragon, surrounded by large solid pillars. Three statues: Buddha Shakyamuni in the middle, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva on the right and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva on the left are carved extremely delicately and vividly. So are the four Dharma Protectors and 18 Arhats.
The most unique and outstanding feature in the architectural complex of Linh Ung Bai But pagoda is the tallest statue of Avalokitesvara Buddha in Southeast Asia (recognized by UNESCo) with a height of 67 m, a diameter of 35 m lotus. Inside the statue there are 12 floors, each floor has an altar of Buddha statues. The statue stands with its back to the mountain, facing the sea with gentle eyes as if giving compassion to sentient beings.
The Best Time of Year to Visit Linh Ung Pagoda:
