𝐇𝐚 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐩 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐲 - 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬

(Thẩm Mã Pass), a renowned destination on the Hà Giang loop.

In the past, when transportation was not as developed, people relied on horses for travel and transporting goods across dangerous mountain roads. "Thẩm" means "to examine, assess," while "Mã" means "horse," so "Thẩm Mã" translates to "horse assessment."

The 5km-long pass, with its winding curves and steep inclines, demanded strength and endurance from the horses carrying goods. People used this pass to test the horses' health, allowing them to select the strongest ones.

Today, Thẩm Mã Pass has become an indispensable stop on your Hà Giang exploration journey.

Known as a challenging destination with many mountains, blind curves, and winding roads, Ha Giang sees an increase in visitors every year.

The most popular tours are three and four days long, with journeys of approximately 350–400 km.

What is the difference between the 3-day and 4-day tours?

If your travel time is limited, the three-day tour is an option that still allows you to fully experience the loop (landscapes, culture, and unforgettable memories).

The four-day tour is ideal if you have more time and want to spend more time in the mountains with friends and enjoy shorter drives each day. It includes a boat tour, a visit to a waterfall, and more cultural stops.

You can get to Ha Giang by bus, private car, or motorbike.

👉The most popular way to get to Ha Giang is by bus. You can take a bus to or from Ha Giang from or to Hanoi, Sapa, Ninh Binh, Ha Long, and Cat Ba.

👉Private car offers flexible timing and a shorter drive, but the price is higher than buses. If you are traveling in a group, this is a good option.

👉Motorbike is an option if you are ready for a long drive on the highway (about six to seven hours).

At B**g Hostel, we provide bus tickets and can book private cars, which is very easy and convenient. We also organize Ha Giang loop tours with full packages (bus tickets, food, accommodations, motorbike, etc.).
