Where to go in Cambodia
Cambodia, a unique country located in Southeast Asia, is a major destination for tourists because of its rich heritage. Phnom Phen, the capital of Cambodia, is a bustling city filled with industrial, cultural, and political activity. Not only can tourists experience the big city's entertainment, but can also travel to Mekong Island, a destination known for its Buddhist temple, aquaculture, silk weavers, and beautiful sunsets.
Another city in Cambodia that is popular to visit because of its ancient ruins is Siem Reap. This city is the famous site of Angkor Wat, which is the world's largest Hindu temple. The design of Angkor Wat is suppose to represent Mount Meru, which is the home of the devas in Hindu mythology and is said to be the epitome of the Khmer architecture classical style. Angkor Wat was built in honor of the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple.
The lost city of Koh Ker is another popular site of Hindu temples to visit. Located outside of the Siem Reap, these temples provide a 30 meter climb above the plain surrounded by an exotic forest.
From ancient Hindu temples to the fascinating Khmer culture, Cambodia's variety of tourist attractions will guarantee any visitor an adventure.
