BEAUTIFUL BAYON TEMPLE IN SIEM REAP PROVINCE,KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA

At Angkor Thom, Bayon, the central temple is the largest with several smaller temple around it.
It’s tower have four faces looking East, North and south, suggesting that Buddha, Buddhissattava or the king himself is looking out and overseeing all four corners of the world. The colossal images of Lokeshvara in four different directions at the entrance of Bayon are designed to demonstrate compassion and power of the Buddhisattiva and the king.
As King Cambodian (Khmer) Jayavarman VII(1181-1220AD) was a Buddhist, he broke with Khmer traditions of Hinduism and adopted as his deity a Buddhist Bodhisattva. Hinduism was the state religion when king Jayavarman VII ascended the throne although Buddhism had prospered until then throughout Inchina.

The origin of Cambodian (Khmer )Sbai is through of as being invented in the 1 st century during the Funan era and eight century of Chenla,kingdom of Cambodia.
The tale attached to it includes the founders of the Kingdom of Funan ,Preah Thong and Neang Neak “Naga woman “.According to the legend,Preah Thong holds on to a piece of the cloth worn on the Nagini during the journey to Naga of Kingdom.That is piece of cloth is known as Sbai.In the this tale ,Sbai symbolizes the Naga princess’ Tail.
This inspired the wedding costume where the groom must cling to the bride’s Sbai as They enter their honeymoon room.

Unique style of Red Dao traditional outfits through the lens of talented photographer Nguyen Son Tung.

Vietnam is home to 54 ethnic groups, each of which has its own identity and unique values in terms of customs and traditions, contributing to the cultural diversity in the country.

One of the groups is the Dao ethnic minority people who reside, for the most part, in the mountainous northern provinces of Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Ha Giang and Lang Son. The Red Dao are a subgroup of the Dao people, renowned for their colourful traditional costumes that leave an indelible impression on visitors.

Tuyen Quang is home to nearly 91,000 Dao people from nine different subgroups, with the Red Dao people living mostly in the districts of Na Hang and Lam Binh.

For the Red Dao, the way they dress symbolises their ethnicity and distinguishes them from others. They are easily identifiable by the predominance of red in their clothing as the colour is believed to bring luck, happiness, prosperity and positive energy to everybody.

The traditional Red Dao art of costume decoration in Tuyen Quang’s districts of Na Hang, Lam Binh, Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen and Son Duong was recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible heritage last year.

This traditional art has a long history. In the remote villages of the Red Dao people, women still make traditional clothing for themselves and other family members.

Red Dao costumes vary by regions. There are differences in the way Red Dao people in each region wear tunics, headscarves, belts and other accessories. In some places, Red Dao people wear a string of nine or 11 large red cotton balls around their neck.

They often dress in their most beautiful and colourful outfits during traditional festivals, for weddings or on the occasion of welcoming special guests to their home.

The Lo Lo ethnic group (also known as Mun Di, Di, Man Di, La La, O Man, Lu Loc Man) resides mainly in Ha Giang province and Cao Bang province (Northern Vietnam). Despite being one of the ethnic groups with the smallest population in Vietnam, living long interspersed with other ethnic groups, the Lo Lo people still keep their traditional values intact.
Lo Lo is one of the ethnic groups that appeared early and openly claimed the land of D**g Van, Ha Giang province. The Lo Lo people in Ha Giang have two branches: Lo Lo Den and Lo Lo Hoa. The Lo Lo Den ethnic group is concentrated in Lung Cu commune, while the larger Lo Lo Hoa group lives in Lung Tao, Sung La, D**g Van and Meo Vac districts, Ha Giang.

PRASAT BAKONG TEMPLE (ប្រាសាទបាគង) IN SIEM REAP PROVINCE,KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA 🇰🇭

Bakong temple is to be found down a sandy track ,at about 1500 meters from route 6.The turning is indicated by signpost 13 kilometers from Siem Reap town in the direction of Phnom Penh city,Cambodia.The track initially approaches from the north on the same axis as the central sanctuary,which reveals itself at the far end ,to the skirt the north -east quarter of the monument ‘s second enclosure and lead to the end of the Eastern causeway,just before the remains of the second gopura.
Bakong temple built by king Khmer Indravarman I in late 9th century (881) ,cult Brahmanic (Shivas).

Sala Lodges - Amazing Eco-lodge in Siem Reap Temple Town.

Rice grows in vivid green rows while sugar palm trees set between traditional wooden houses stand in the midday heat. This classic rural Cambodian scene is found frequently on the fringes of Siem Reap, but at Sala Lodges the authentic image is one that has been artificially constructed to produce a unique boutique retreat.

All of the traditional wooden houses here differ in design and character to give the guests a truly intimate feeling when staying within this little enclave. The Bram Muoy, or Fishmongers, Suite is a lovely stilted home that dates back to 1958 and is from the Sang Vouey Commune, sixty miles from Siem Reap. Its original owner, Mao Heng, was a retired fishmonger who sold it to Sala Lodges, as he wanted to build a bigger and ‘prettier’ house for his retirement. Such rich tales infuse all the houses here. These carefully curated cottages have created their own stories by changing the lives of the characters that inhabited them before, adding to the enchantment of this hideaway.

The lodge has nine small houses for two to three guests, and two large houses for four to five guests that have two bedrooms. The largest house on the compound is Pi & Bei means 2 & 3 in Cambodian to reflect how many people can sleep in each bedroom. It is the perfect house for families and couples travelling together. This house was built in 1972 and belonged to Colonel Ly Chheang who used it for the army of the Stong District. As a barracks it was too small for the soldiers so he sold it build a bigger barracks for his men. Now spacious and elegantly decorated in muted neural palettes that create a balanced and calm space reminiscent of a 1920’s Asian deco style. The interior designer, Marina Cardis, explored the unique décor of the region and collaborated with architect, Claire Campens, to give the property its individual identity.

Siem Reap and the surrounding area is naturally the gateway to discovering Angkor Wat and it’s surrounding temples. Personalised tours to discover Angkor with an archaeologist and the surrounding countryside are available for guests individual interests. A motorised Tuk Tuk can zoom between the temples with an experienced guide to discover the myths and history of the amazing jungle hidden in the city. However there are hidden temples away from the main complex too.

Fifty kilometres north of Siem Reap in the Phnom Kulen National Park you will discover the mythical carvings along the riverbed, a staircase of symbolic ph***ic lingum and the feminine yoni after a forty-five minute walk through the jungle and traversing wooden staircases. Glimpse into hidden stories, histories and untouched areas on this wonderful adventure. There are also stunning waterfalls here where you can dip and cool off if the jungle trekking gets a little warm.
