Binh Lieu,Quang Ninh
As a district in the northeast of Quang Ninh province, Binh Lieu is about 270 km from Hanoi. This place has a temperate climate all year round, diverse topographic structures and beautiful natural scenery, considered a "miniature Sa Pa".
The border patrol route west of Binh Lieu will fascinate backpackers. Located at an altitude of 700 m above sea level, the road is not too winding and difficult to follow but also passes through rolling mountains and romantic fields for you to admire the poetic scenery.

As a border area with nearly 50 km of border with China, in Binh Lieu, you should rent a motorbike or walk along the hilly trails to conquer the Vietnam - China border milestones. Four main milestones that should not be missed include milestones 1300, 1302, 1305 and 1327.

After about an hour of driving from Binh Lieu town towards Hoanh Mo on National Highway 18C, turn right to Ngan Chuong village and then turn left towards marker 61 for about 8km to reach markers 1300, 1302.

Next is the journey to conquer milestone 1305, the milestone located at the highest mountain peak in Binh Lieu district. From milestone 1302, continue another 9 km to reach the trail in the middle of the mountain nicknamed "dinosaur spine".

At any time of the day, walking on the "dinosaur spine" filled with grass, you can see the wonderful natural scenery and feel very small in the vast sky and earth. Trekking through this place for at least 2 hours if the weather is good, you will reach milestone 1305.

With milestone 1327 in Phat Chi village, D**g Van commune, you can ask the border guards to better understand the route. On the way to milestone 1327, you will pass many other milestones.

The good experience started from enquiry stage. Mr Hai was very clear and patient in answering my questions and setting my itinerary for my family of 2 teenage boys. Mr Hai was very clear with what services and expenses were included and what weren’t. No surprises there. There were no hard sell either, as our family spent our days in Hanoi city on our own with no tour from him.

When we finalised the itinerary, and were ready to pay about 30pct as the deposit, Mr Hai was very helpful and assuring to ensure funds transfer was safe and easy by credit card.

The itinerary was a good mixed of culture and food expeditions in local villages, and Hao Lu ancient capital. And 1-2 hours of activities such as cycling in Mai Chau, kayaking and swimming in Ha Long, boating and hiking up (stones steps) the highest peak in Tam Coc. The overnight cruise in Ha long was interesting too, with night activities of fried spring rolls cooking lessons, night fishing of squids, and coconut wine testing with simple snacks. Special shouts to Mr Hung and Mr Hau, our English speaking tour guides for above itinerary. They were enthusiastic and humorous. And still considerate enough to the tired tourists like us. The pick-up and drop-off for tours and airport were also hassle free.

I have work experiences with Vietnamese many times before and the service rendered by Mr Hai and his tour guides were exceptional.
