3 Major Vietnamese cities among top Southeast Asian destinations.
Readers of the Travel + Leisure magazine have included Vietnam's Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the list of "Top 10 Cities In Southeast Asia" under "Asia's Best Awards 2022."
The list released by the American magazine late last month, based on votes collected from readers around the world between January and April this year, ranks Da Nang, Hanoi and HCMC in third, fifth and eighth place, respectively.

Bangkok, boasting great hotels, delicious food and a bustling nightlife, topped the list.

Vietnam's Phu Quoc and Con Dao were ranked fourth and 10th in the "Best Islands in Southeast Asia" category. Thailand's Phuket topped this list with riders citing plenty of unique accommodations, outdoor activities and attractions to explore.

Vietnam's General Statistics Office (GSO) says the country welcomed 602,000 foreign arrivals in the first half of this year, around 7 percent of the pre-pandemic level in 2019.

The country targets receiving five million foreign tourists this year, around 30 percent of 2019 figure.

VIETNAM STOPS COVID-19 TESTING REQUIREMENT ON ENTRY

Vietnam stops COVID-19 testing requirement on entry

In Vietnam, after a period of implementing epidemic prevention and control solutions, epidemic prevention has brought positive results.

The number of new cases in the country has decreased continuously since March 15, the number of severe cases and deaths related to COVID-19 has decreased, and the coverage of COVID-19 vaccines has been high.

In that context, the Ministry of Health has issued a document directing to stop making medical declarations for people entering Vietnam from April 27, 2022.

To ensure the application of epidemic prevention and control measures and create favorable conditions to promote socio-economic recovery and development activities, the Prime Minister directed to suspend the requirement to test for SARS-CoV-2 before entering Vietnam from May 15, 2022.

In addition, the Ministry of Health was assigned to closely monitor the epidemic situation and promptly guide appropriate epidemic prevention and control measures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs directs Vietnamese agencies abroad to notify people wishing to enter Vietnam to comply with epidemic prevention and control requirements under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.

Recommendations to reduce barriers and requirements for international visitors to Vietnam

- Visa policy in general has not really operated as before the pandemic. Incentives on visa exemption have not met the post-pandemic tourism trends and have not competed with other countries in the region. Vietnam visa policies should be changed.

- Remove "Covid-19 insurance" as requirement for tourists coming to Vietnam.
