Lễ hội xuống đồng là nghi thức truyền thống của người nông dân nhằm bày tỏ sự thành kính, biết ơn trời đất, thiên nhiên đã ban tặng mùa vụ tốt tươi, mưa thuận, gió hòa và là dịp để những người nông dân trao đổi, chia sẻ kinh nghiệm để mùa vụ mới thu hoạch được nhiều lúa, chất lượng tốt.

Tại Hội An, Lễ hội xuống đồng là hoạt động nhằm bảo tồn và phát huy các giá trị văn hoá phi vật thể nghề truyền thống trồng lúa nước; động viên, khích lệ người nông dân nâng cao ý thức gìn giữ nét đẹp nghề truyền thống.
