Love Santo, Love Aore, Love Aoredise ......

Espiritu Santo is the largest island in Vanuatu, a Pacific island nation located about 1,750 kilometers (1,087 miles) east of Australia. Covering approximately 3,955 square kilometers (1,527 square miles), it has a population of around 40,000 people, most of whom live in small villages and the main town of Luganville. The island is known for its lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and rugged mountains, making it one of the most diverse and beautiful islands in the South Pacific.

One of the island’s most famous attractions is the SS President Coolidge, a World War II-era shipwreck that has become one of the world’s top scuba diving sites. During the war, Espiritu Santo served as a major military base for Allied forces, and remnants of that history, including military relics and wreckage, can still be found scattered across the island. The island is also home to stunning blue holes, deep freshwater pools formed by underground limestone caves, offering crystal-clear water for swimming and snorkeling.

Espiritu Santo has a rich cultural heritage, with traditional Ni-Vanuatu villages preserving ancient customs, dances, and rituals. The island is famous for its kava, a traditional drink made from the root of the kava plant, which holds deep cultural significance. While tourism is growing, Espiritu Santo remains largely unspoiled, with remote beaches, hidden waterfalls, and an abundance of natural wonders that make it a paradise for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

Sad news with the earthquake hitting Port Vila area badly yesterday.
Aoredise and the Santo region did not seem to suffer any damage, business as normal up our way.
Solomon Airlines flight Brisbane to Santo tomorrow is on schedule, except it won't return via Vila, will fly direct back to Brisbane. Vila airport is closed to commercial flights for minimum 48 hours.

Location, Location, .....
Aoredise is straight across the channel from Luganville, the second largest town in Vanuatu. This means it is easy to get to town for shopping, restaurants, tours on Santo, and to / from the airport.
It also means you get a great light show every night.
