This is a snippet from the inaugural Tafaoga TV Show that was filmed under the auspices of the Samoa Tourism Authority in 2020.
I am always filled with passion when talking about this place because it is a landmark that speaks a lot of history and a reminder to us of the struggles our forefathers went through as colonised people.
Today marks the 62nd year since the Samoan flag was first raised at Tiafau. It is the Malae o le faautugatagi a Samoa which translates to "the plot of land where our tears were finally dried."
When we talk about culture, it is our independence that allowed it to thrive.
When we talk about our identity, it is our independence that makes us the proud nation that we are.
Being free from colonialism is not only about being able to decide on our own leaders, but also to be free from the viewpoint of the colonisers.

Thank you May. It has been bitter sweet being my late mother's birth month and Mother's Day, but our loyal clients always make us forget the sad times once we're on the road.

We are always ready to turn up and hype up when it comes to showing the world what Samoa πŸ‡ΌπŸ‡Έ is all about.

The wows and ahs on tour knocks us back and realize how fortunate we are to call this place home 🏑

June has some goodies in the bag and we can't wait to show it off.

Talofa from Magiagi, my village, my home.

It is Sunday evening and we took a nice drive up to the highlands to where our farm is located to feed the animals.

This is always a refreshing sight and always reminds me of my roots, and wherever in the world 🌎 I may go, this will always be home.

Like some villages in Samoa, we still have curfews in place to ensure everyone gets into their homes for evening prayers πŸ™ πŸ™Œ.

Curfew runs for about 20 minutes and no vehicle or person is allowed to move around in the village.

Loud music is also forbidden and if you breach this curfew...you will get what my former teachers liked to leave at the bottom of my assignment...See me! πŸ‘€ πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚

Looking forward to the start of another week.

Oh and before I forget...a massive shout out to the Cruiserweight Champion of the world Jai Opetaia πŸ‡ΌπŸ‡Έ for securing yet another massive W against the former champ Breidis in Saudi Arabia.

Malo le tau. Malo le sailimalo ma le faaeaea ia Samoa.

It has been a good Day 1 at Samoa Tourism Expo.
Always a good way to catch up with current and new suppliers for our local market.
I must admit it's not our cup of tea anymore to sit behind a desk all day, but when you're in business, it has to happen somehow.
We're itching to be on the road again but that is not until Wednesday.
So we'll take it one day at a time.

As we head into the Holy weekend celebrating with millions of other Christians around the globe the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we take a moment to reflect upon His Grace and Mercy upon our lives.
We are in awe of His amazing unconditional Love and protection over the years.
May our people have a wonderful Easter and may the Spirit of God grant you peace.
Thank you also to those who toured with us over the last few days.
We value your patronage.

Sharing what it means to be a Samoan. Faafetai Ato...alofa atu.

I remember trialling for Samoa’s Under-19 team over 9 years ago at age 15. I first walked into that tournament with all eyes on this afakasi kid from Australia and I got a few smirks and laughs cause I was this skinny β€œpalagi” the local boxers called me and didn’t think much of me.
I didn’t care I just did my own thing and fought my fight with no fear and won my trials and first nationals, but I was told later I cannot be in the team as I was too young!
So I went the next year and fought in the Australian Under-19 championships and won that and went to Russia for the world youth’s championships.
But my heart was always to represent Samoa πŸ‡ΌπŸ‡Έ and so a year later I returned and trialled again at 17 and this time they couldn’t deny me and I got into the Samoan team that attended the 2017 Bahamas Youth Commonwealth Games.
Later that year we heard about the trials for the elite team to attend the main Commonwealth games in the Gold Coast, so I had to return to Samoa three times that year!!
For some reason the powers that be weren’t so sure or whatever it was and made me fight boxers from three different divisions to earn my spot! I was a light heavyweight, but I fought a cruiserweight, a super heavyweight and finished with the hardest punching light heavyweight in all of Samoa lol that I had to be on my toes with to outbox and finally getting into the elite Samoan boxing team.
Why am I telling my story is because I’ve been reading and cheering for my Samoan-Japanese brother Gaku Akazawa’s journey to making these Olympics for Samoa, and I somehow connect to the uso with what he’s done.
And it’s sad to read people’s comments on Samoan news socials on how he’s this and that blah blah blah!
I can understand that, I too went through a lot when climbing the Samoan rankings and trying to make a name for myself in Samoa and I used to hear comments from some β€œis he even Samoan”! Or β€œhe’s taking spots from local Samoans” and all that nonsense!
Look whether you’re a half Samoan, a quarter, or a just your little finger is Samoan and even if you’re a citizen of our great country that is proud to represent and fight for πŸ‡ΌπŸ‡Έ YOU ARE SAMOAN!
Leave your ignorance and bigotry ways within your own doors and try and do something positive for our country, Lord knows we need it more now than ever! Manuia le vaiaso and keep on punching on with life, it’s way too short to be negative πŸ‘ŠπŸ½πŸ’™β€οΈ

According to our records, 86% of all bookings made for our services were done by women.
That is quite interesting because it makes me wonder if there is anything about our products that attract more women? πŸ€”
Or are women taking the lead in making bookings across all other services?

Chris stepped up to the plate to deliver a memorable experience in Samoa for these wonderful people off the Cruise Ship 🚒 Nautica.
Despite its late arrival at 11am. We still managed to tailor the experience in line with the ship's time of departure.
Slowly recovering from this tummy bug πŸ› and will be ready to go out again tomorrow.

I wish Facebook would let me visit my first ever post on this page when we first started in August 2017.
It was the start of what I tell myself living the dream.
Fast forward to 2024 and I'm still at it with the generous assistance of many wonderful people who shares my goal to make Samoa the dream destination for everyone in the world.
Thank you so much to all my dedicated colleagues and those in this industry who have helped me along the way.
I may have been a bit rusty with my posts far in between but my heart is still in the same place.
Have a good night everyone.
