Hi all. Because many have contacted me regarding quarantine, here is The recent status in Iceland.

since August 19, 20202 the restrictions are such:
1. Att arrival in Iceland you are tested
2. Quarantine in your hotel or isolation of family for 5 days. After that
3. you are tested again, and results come within 24 hours.

This is under constant change and we are hearing from world known scientists, that our methods are working well and due to success we may expect revisions within a few days.

We are only having 1-3 new cases daily, mostly on border patrol.
We are optimistic that the quarantine restrictions will be minimised or lifted very soon.

I just saw on the news a few days ago a promising interview with a US business owner. He decided to move to Iceland while the pandemic situation, because "his children could have necessary freedom of play and academic growth here. He could use modern technology to video conference and run his company".

I hope you are all coming soon. Iceland is opening up, when you fulfil the simple restriction: proof of not having the Covid virus. In most countries this can be done and documented by your physician.

Dear all.

I hope you and your families and loved ones are all OK

These unprecedented times are really changing our daily routines and manners. Although hard to comprehend and in fact scary to some of us, this will soon be over. I hope we´re all attending our families better, concentrating our efforts and prayers for those that need it most and exercising our minds and body to come out stronger.

If you want or need to chat, I certainly have the time and would in fact love to do so. So don´t be a stranger and come have a cup of coffee over Messanger or Skype if you have the time.

Wow ! I just saw and was lucky enough to catch on picture when a bolder (not a regular, shooting star) got into the atmosphere and burned up while the shutter was open. This apparently fell only 300 km from where I was standing and the speed of 11-40 km/sec.=7-28 miles/sec !

It was brighter than Venus and almost as bright as the quarter-moon shining at the same time.

Not the best picture I´ve taken, but an event for me and the passengers travelling with me at that time. A "whoooooo" experience

TOUR: The Northern Lights Private tour

Fred did an amazing job not only finding the northern lights, but educating us on all of the interesting facts about Iceland. I was doubtful that we would see anything that night, due to heavy cloud cover during the day. Fred watched the weather pattern and found a time and location where the clouds we supposed to clear. The stars that we saw were breathtaking. It's evident he not only knows how to find the northern lights, but has a true passion for sharing the rich culture and history of his country

This tour can be thoroughly recommended with Fred. Although close to Reykjavik and parts of the Golden Circle we were taken well off the normal path and given a detailed and very interesting tour around the "growing" part of Iceland. Fred is an excellent guide and adapted the tour to our particular interests (Marine History) as well as the geological history of the area. Extremely enjoyable.

Fred was very energetic and entertaining ( but not too much ) and flexible. He quickly made an adjustment in our route of the Golden Circle because of crowds. He knew the spots to see and get close to the Icelandic Horses and you could pet them. We had a wonderful visit with him.

The Northern Lights are one of nature´s phenomenum, hard to describe, to find and predict. Sometimes one gets lucky, like last night. Real lucky ! Those that have travelled with me, may want to find the images I see in these pictures. Enjoy

Fantastic guide and perfect evening
We went on a deluxe northern lights tour on our last night in Iceland and it was exactly what we were looking for. Our guide, Friðþjófur, kept everyone's spirits high and made sure everyone had a great time. He was the perfect combination of humor, confidence and positivity. We found some faint lights that became a beautiful spectacle once we waited long enough. Friðþjófur seemed to know just what to do to give us the best chance of seeing them. He also took photos for the group.

Northern Lights with the "Peace thief"

Without any doubts, one of the best experience in our stay in Iceland. Even if we were at the beginning of the Northern lights season., Sterna Travel provided us an excellent "hunting" trip to the northern lights. Our guide, Fridthjofur (the "peace thief") Johnson, explain us everything about the northern lights, how to take picture but, above us, was an excellent company sharing histories about elves and trolls. At the end of the trip, we were lucky enough to see a wonderful northern lights show.

Snæfellsnes Penninsula

"Fred" was a wonderful guide. He showed us the sights of Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Some were the usual tourist areas. Others most travelers don't get to see. He assessed our interests and matched the tour to our interests. Our experience was so much better than many four fellow cruisers.

TOUR: The Secret private tour

No words for how amazing a guide Fred is! Based on very little idea of what we wanted, he created a special tour for my cousin and I filled with beautiful sightseeing, a visit to a relaxing lagoon, delicious lunch and great stories and lessons about Icelandic history and geology. He was knowledgeable about everything we could think of asking him and was not only a guide but a great companion on our trip. Fred is truly exceptional and would recommend anyone to take a thousand tours with him!
