My husband has been disabled for
a couple years now. We have 17 year old twins at
home, a girl and a boy. This unexpectedly threw us
for a loop financially, as it would to others. We were
not wealthy but we did have income to meet needs,
save cash, and still enjoy some of life's extras. We
had no idea a change was coming. The last 2 years
prior we lived off our savings and college funds and now
on $900 monthly. Not weekly. After
house rent and electric bill, we live the rest of the
month on between $100 to $150, depending on
electric bill and putting some of that aside for car
insurance twice yearly. This is used for gas,
medical co-payments, food, and the twins' needs. I
have learned to be VERY frugal and the Dollar Tree
has become my new best friend! We also frequent
a local food bank. When my husband is approved for disability we will be ok. It is taking forever to hear anything back from them. We CAN get by and we CAN
remain happy, even with this big life change! We
find pleasure in life's simple things such as our 2
grandsons spending a night or enjoying a nice cup
of coffee on the porch! It has only been hard on the
twins around the Christmas holidays. Any surprises or cash toward purchases for them would be a blessing. I continuously apply for work, send resumes, and fill out job applications, for job positions that I more than
qualify. I've been told my age is holding me back. We both are close to retirement age. Recently, we are also now in need of purchasing a used vehicle to get to medical appointments instead of repairing one as I had posted earlier. We would appreciate any support more than you know. If you want to mail a Walmart, Target, Food Lion, Lowes Foods, Dollar Tree, Restaurant, Barnes & Nobile, GameStop, or any type store or gift card or orders from online catalogs, boxed gifts or packages to help with Christmas, our address is below. They need gloves, tobaggons, socks, and a bed comforter or blanket each, sweat pants, etc. They wear size 2x (Courtney) and 3x (Wayne) and large size socks. Wayne is into x-box 360 gaming (have any games you don't play any more?) and lego kits. Courtney collects giraffes of all sorts, books (avid reader), posters, hair accessories, and cosmetics .
