Yes... this spectacular gem is on my Wee Gems of Wairarapa itinerary 😊

And once I get clarity on how the traffic light system will affect me and my itineraries, they'll be back open for biz for 2022 😍 yippeeee

👣 The Putangirua Pinnacles in the Wairarapa are about 1.5 hours drive from Wellington 🚘

These incredible, natural rock formations were featured in filming of Lord of the Rings 📽️ 🎬

From the car park it takes about 45 minutes to reach the Pinnacles - you can choose to either go along the river to the ground, or the track up to the lookout above🚶‍♀️👣

You definitely want sturdy shoes for the river terrain, the rocks are incredibly crumbly 🪨

For a day trip, there's also the Cape Palliser lighthouse & seal colony to visit nearby 💡

Just to let you know that I've made the decision to re-schedule my local Travel Sisters NZ experiences for later in 2022.

With the new traffic light system coming in to play, I feel it best to wait a bit until we know exactly how it's all going to work and this new way of life is more settled ❤

Meanwhile though.... there's always Rarotonga 😍😍

Matiu/Somes Island Stayover 10-11 December 2021

Who wants to escape the mainland and come with me for one night of peace and solititude staying over on Matiu/Somes Island, that wee drop in the middle of Wellington Harbour 😍

Lots of fun exploring the island, especially at night when we go spotlighting for tuatara, little blue penguin, plus other nocturnal wildlife.

Hawkes Bay Capers

Matiu/Somes Island Sleepover
10 – 11 December 2021 (2 days 1 night)

I decided to drop this simple wee gem into the mix of itineraries just for fun 😍 Escape the mainland for a moment and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this cute little drop in the ocean.

Often described as “a tranquil retreat for both wildlife and visitors”, you’ll have a lovely experience staying overnight on Matiu/Somes Island, a heavenly sanctuary for many wildlife including tuatara, giant weta, many bird species and also the world’s smallest penguin – the little blue penguin. You will have plenty of time to explore the island both day and night!
