I thought I might feature a resort today and it is the NAM NGUM BEACH RESORT on the outskirts of Vang Vieng between Luang Prabang and Vientiane. This is off the tourist route so you would nee transport to get there if you are arriving at the train station. But what a place, what a view and yes please to some R&R.

Wax Castle Procession, Vientiane

During the full moon in November, That Luang Festival occurs, marking the end of the Lao festival calendar. For several days, a large market fair and carnival set up attracting visitors from all over the country as they come to make merit at the great stupa and national symbol of Laos. Locals carry offerings resembling spires of castles made of beeswax as an offering to the holy site as they walk around the stupa three times in honor of the Buddha, the Dharma, and the brotherhood of monks.

We love the AVANI BOUTIQUE HOTEL but their Bar and Grill cannot be missed. Just look at these photos and you will see that they have hit the right note when it comes to sumptuous food in Laos.
