Whakarwi...Lost in adventure!
Had an awesome ride on the 10th June 2017. Some scattered cloud and a little rain but, still a beautiful winters day. I was checking out some routes for some future Whakarwi guided tours and was riding not far from where I live. Really amazing scenery; steep valleys with fast flowing streams and lots of Manuka trees, Kanuka trees and Ponga ferns. And what's more, I barely saw another soul!
Thought I'd make the most of the ride and not just enjoy the scenery but, do a little future website promotion filming as well!
Matahuru Road, NZ, 16th of April 2017
This video clip was taken on the 16th of April 2017 by the pillion passenger on Matahuru Road heading towards Kaihere, shortly after a heavy downpour. The dark clouds receded to show a lovely blue sky, warming the road, producing this wonderfully atmospheric and typically subtropical "4-seasons-in-one day" New Zealand. This scenery is quite characteristic of this rolling terrain, showing us riding through lots of dense native bush, an abundance of Ponga, Tea tree and Nikau palms.
Pukerewa Road, NZ, on the 8th of April 2017.
This was a fantastic 250km day ride on a beautiful autumnal day in New Zealand. The clip was taken, as mentioned, between Raglan and Port Waikato on Pukerewa Road, on the 8th of April 2017. Really enjoyed the awesome riding over easy-going terrain, being a mixture of tar seal and gravel roads. Incredibly quiet as I didn't see another soul for ages, and yet exciting with a few surprises. Just after I finished filming and set off on the bike, scarcely over the brow of the hill to the north shown in the clip I came across two large bulls wandering along the road! This is not that uncommon in this part of New Zealand on this type of road and location... it just adds to the adventure!
