Topological Theatre is led by Artistic Director Ed Roy, who has been with the company since its inception. Ed is a multi-faceted artist, and has worked extensively as a playwright, director, actor, dramaturge and teacher/mentor. Ed was recently lauded at the 2009 Dora Mavor Moore Awards for his work as Director/Dramaturge on Waawaate Fobister’s Agokwe - which swept the General Theatre Division pic

king up 6 awards, including Outstanding Direction for Ed. Agokwe tours Canada in 2010-11. Ed has held posts as a theatre instructor at The National Theatre School of Canada, The University of Guelph and Humber College, and enjoyed a long association with Buddies in Bad Times Theatre as Company Dramaturge. As a playwright, Ed is well known for creating award-winning plays, which include The Other Side of The Closet, White Trash Blue Eyes, Bang Boy, Bang!,The Golden Thug, A Secret Life, UFOREX, and Daredevil. His plays have earned him numerous awards, including 2 Chalmers Awards (A Secret Life, White Trash Blue Eyes) and three Dora Mavor Moore Awards (The Other Side of the Closet, Agokwe). Ed’s plays are regularly produced in Canada and the US, and The Other Side of the Closet recently toured, for the first time, to the United Kingdom.
