Although Canada saw its first colour run in 2012, there are no other National Colour Throwing Runs being championed by a wholly-Canadian team. We are the first! But, this race is actually based on a very old tradition out of India. Colour Blast takes inspiration from the traditional Holi Festival of India, the festival that celebrates the arrival of spring. During this festival, the people of Indi
a say farewell to winter by enjoying spring’s abundant and vibrant colors. The throwing of colour is a symbol of great joy, peace and love. As Canadians get BLASTED with colour, we hope that they feel this same feeling of peace, joy and love as they turn their bodies into works of art. OUR COLOURFUL STORY
We are Canadians, running a Canadian-based Colour Throwing Fun Run and we are excited to share this worldwide phenomenon with fun-seekers across Canada. Based on the ancient Holi Festival of India, we were fascinated by the concept of how this sacred tradition of colour play translated into a fun run. As race directors for large events across the globe, we wanted to experience the “fun” side of running; and, when we attended our first colour throwing run, that’s exactly what we saw. But who are we? Well, our Blast Cast is comprised of many people dedicated to organizing races around the world with more than 40 years combined experience. Now we wanted to bring that experience into a new challenge. Creating the most exhilarating, colourful, inclusive run possible. We live by our motto… Maximum Colour. Maximum Fun. THE ART OF BLASTING
This isn’t a race for someone looking to best their 5k time. This is a non-timed race for those looking to have an experience, to turn their body into art, and to laugh every step of the way. And fun is GUARANTEED! The fun starts at registration and kicks into high gear at the starting line where our high-energy emcees will get our participants dancing, singing, laughing and ready to run. Oh yeah… there might be some colour throwing going on there too. Our emcees will set the group off in waves to avoid traffic at the colour stations; we want to make sure everyone gets blasted with MAXIMUM COLOUR. As participants finish the race, they will head over to the festival stage for some more music, dancing and… oh yeah… COLOUR! The fun honestly doesn’t end until participants climb back in their cars, vans, buses, or whatever they came in, and head back home where the colour and memories will last a lifetime. IT’S SIMPLY BLAST-ASTIC! Kids 6 and under can participate for free if they are accompanied by an adult. Maximum 2 kids per adult. Parents and/or Guardians of children age 7 and up need to register on line on behalf of the children. If your child is 6 and under, you do not register on line for them as we register them during packet pick up. Only takes a few minutes. We register the child, give them a race number and the parent and/or guardian needs to sign a waiver. Children 6 and under will receive a free race bib only. They will not receive the Race Swag Bag which includes a White Race Shirt. For race day we suggest wearing white t-shirts. Children can wear their own white t-shirt or you can purchase one of our kids shirts during packet pick up.
