Philosophy :
At Daffodil we have a powerful image of the child,
we believe that children are competent and capable beings and we strive to provide an environment with open-ended materials to support each child’s growth. The process of learning occurs
through interactions with the children’s peers and materials provided in their environment. Throughout the child’s lifetime, these interactions wil
l continuously contribute to their development. We hope to provide a beautiful, natural environment in which the children will be encouraged to discover and explore each one of their senses within the flexible space and schedule. We support open-ended questions and encourage the children to problem solve. At Daffodil we believe in the importance of diversity and respecting and supporting the different beliefs, learning styles, and values it brings to our centre. We believe in a responsive curriculum; supporting and offering experiences based on the children’s interests. This allows children to engage with others and explore their own theories and ideas amongst each other. We support and embark on longer term projects in response to the ideas children wish to explore further on. Experiences that promote critical thinking, provoke curiosity and sense of belonging, and build relationships are of most importance to us, and within these we hope to meet each individual child’s wants and needs.
