As we near the end of another fabulous year of adventuring, we reflect on the finer things in life!

Like family and friends and togetherness in nature.

Even better in the African bush, where the best connections with each other can be made in wild freedom. 🌿

As you gather around the table at Thanksgiving this year, I encourage you to dream of Africa and give thanks for some of the last wild spaces on earth, places that can nourish our souls and refresh our spirits. 💚

Time with your family in these amazing destinations is a time to reset, a time of close bonds and shared discoveries – and that is certainly something to celebrate.

If you would like to spend Thanksgiving in Africa in 2025, or are interested in embarking on a transformative journey with your family to the continent at any time of year, please get in touch with our team.

Thank you - John Stevens

It’s , and in celebration of the thriving population of Western Lowland Gorillas around Ngaga, Kamba African Rainforest Experiences has extended its free gorilla permits offer for 2025 bookings.
This is a huge saving and can make a bucket-list holiday come true just like that…

Guests booking the 7-Night Odzala Discovery Journey will receive one complimentary permit (Value US$ 750), while those on the 10- or 11-night journeys will enjoy two free permits (Value US$ 1,500), whilst staying in Kamba's three lodges in Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Republic of Congo.

Valid for travel: 24 September 2025 - 15 December 2025.

Other Ts and Cs apply.
The most thrilling sightings include Western Lowland Gorilla, Chimpanzee, Forest Elephant, Forest Buffalo, Spotted Hyena, and Bongo. Because Kamba runs the only private lodges in Odzala, you'll be among the only visitors in an area more than twice the size of Florida's Everglades National Park.

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a 65,000 – acre game sanctuary that has been credited with helping to save the black rhino and Grevy’s zebra from the brink of extinction. Situated against the dramatic backdrop of the snow-covered massif of Mount Kenya and with the magnificent Northern Frontier District stretching to the north Lewa encompasses one of the greatest natural diversities in Africa - grassy plains, acacia forests, and seasonal swamps fed by the snows of Mount Kenya.

The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a pioneer in wildlife preservation, which has gained a reputation for extending benefits of conservation beyond its borders. Visitors have privileged access to a scenically spectacular area, densely populated with exciting wildlife. All income generated by the camp goes directly towards Lewa’s conservation and community projects.

Fancy a little post-safari relaxation? 😎

Indulge in a little Cape tranquility at the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa. Just outside Cape Town, the dramatic Lion's Head towering behind and the endless Atlantic ocean rolling away in front, this exclusive, peaceful spot is a favourite retreat for our safari guests.

Relax in the infinity pool, take an unforgettable helicopter trip with Christo Brand, Nelson Mandela’s warder and close friend, or simply explore the surrounding flora and fynbos-framed trails or enjoy a sundowner in this staggeringly beautiful setting.🐟🌞💦

Plus! Combine it with a short trip into the Cederberg Mountains... Just 3 hours’ drive from here, Bushman’s Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat beckons. Here, amongst, jagged peaks, deep valleys, mystical sandstone formations and some of the world’s most priceless Bushman rock art, you can enjoy spa treatments, delicious cuisine and wilderness experiences with glimpses of rare gemsbok, black wildebeest, Cape zebra and leopards… 🌿

Stop the world and get off for a while!

Our long-time safari friends and intrepid travellers recently visited Kenya - and this beautiful giraffe image was taken from the hide at Ol Donyo Lodge in the Chyulu Hills by Bill Verner.

We love how it evokes both a sense of vulnerability and strength, a reflection of how precious these incredible creatures are in our wonderfully wild world. 🦒🧡

John and his guests recently spent some time at Wilderness’ Linkwasha camp in Hwange National Park. And, being John, he uses his quiet time between the morning and afternoon activities (when us mere mortals normally nap!) to find what he can in and around camp.

As he discovered, the hide, right in front of the camp’s main area and on the waterhole, is the perfect spot to spend a little downtime with some pachyderm pals…

John and his wife, Nicci, launched John Stevens Guided Safaris Africa, which designs and operates bespoke safaris, both guided and independent, throughout East, Central and Southern Africa.
