Travel Advice

Domestic flight check-in closes 45 minutes prior to departure, so don't be late, or you will get left behind.

As passengers tend to miss their flights or fail to cancel their booking when unable to travel, Airlines overbook their flights, to avoid the flights going out with empty seats. However, this can be a problem, especially when everyone booked arrives for their flight and there are simply not enough seats on the aircraft to accommodate everyone that has a ticket! We strongly recommend and advise you to make use of on line check-in, which is open 24 hours prior to departure, to secure your seat! You can then print your boarding pass and simply hand you luggage in at the bag drop counters. Once you have done your check-in, you are guaranteed your seat on the flight. You may receive a few stories at the airport, as to why you don't have a seat on the flight, but overbooking is the problem!

You can also use the self-service kiosks at the airport, if you are unable to do online check-in and then hand your bags in at the Drop Off counters

NAMIBIA BUSINESS VISAS REQUIRED

South African business travellers to Namibia are required to apply for a visa at the Namibian High Commission in Pretoria as part of the country’s new visa regulations.

The processing time is between two and three working days.

A spokesperson for the High Commission told eTNW that all corporates travelling to Namibia for business meetings or to present at a conference in Namibia can apply for a business visa in Pretoria.

Cristina Cicognani, area manager Cape Town for Namibia Tourism, told eTNW however that the Namibian government has now started to clamp down on this requirement and are actively interviewing travellers entering the country. Whereas before corporate travellers often indicated that they would come to Namibia for leisure to avoid the hassle of applying for a business visa, this is now no longer possible, she explained.

Weekly Country Focus:-

SINGAPORE

Singapore is an island country located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, and is the smallest nation in Southeast Asia.

The best time to travel to Singapore.

Singapore can be visited at anytime of the year. The most comfortable months are between June and August. Another good idea is to coordinate your visit to coincide with the spectacular festivals and events of Singapore.

Because Singapore is 137km (82 miles) north of the equator, you can pretty much guarantee that it's hot. In terms of seasonal variations, you've got some months that are not as warm as others, but for the most part, they're all still hot.

What does vary greatly is rainfall. Singapore lies between two monsoon winds. The Northeast Monsoon arrives the beginning of November and stays until mid-March, when temperatures are slightly cooler, relatively speaking, than other times of the year. The heaviest rainfall occurs between November and January, with daily showers that sometimes last for long periods of time; at other times, it comes down in short heavy gusts and goes quickly away. The Southwest Monsoon falls between June and September. Temperatures are much higher and during this time of year Singapore gets the least rain (with the very least reported in July).

By in large, year-round temperatures remain uniform, with a daily average of 27°C, afternoon temperatures reaching 31°C, and an average sunrise temperature as low as 75°F (24°C). Relative humidity often exceeds 90% at night and in the early morning. (The daily average is 84% relative humidity.)
