Our little guys are waiting patiently to see progress on reconstruction of their new home.
Zebby, Elly and Raffy, would like to welcome Pumba to Rafiki's Place Mabalingwe.
Thanks to Otto Comyn for adding Pumba to the gang.
We plan to have 4 bedrooms going forward - elephant, zebra, giraffe and warthog.
Contractors quotes are being obtained and we hope to commence with demolition and rebuild process within the next month.

RafiKi's Place Mabalingwe is pleased to report that we are in the final stages of completing our insurance claim and approval of rebuild plans. D-day (demolition day) is fast approaching. Watch this space for exciting times as we keep you updated on our progress.

Our biggest priority at this stage is getting the infrastructure (water and electricity supply) sorted out to the occupiable houses. Owners and agents must remember that even if the house was saved, the infrastructure around the house or area is not necessarily in working condition. If it is a small problem, the MCPA will try to attend to it as far as possible before the weekend, but bigger problems will require more time. We have completed our assessments yesterday afternoon and know what is needed. We have since been in contact with the suppliers of electrical cables and water pipes to get stock as soon as possible and to start fixing the damages.

Eskom is busy assessing the burned poles, which will cause electrical interruptions from Eskom occasionally. Depending on the damage and risk set by Eskom, they should be able to provide a timeline for repair then.

The visit from the MEC yesterday afternoon resulted in them considering declaring the area as a disaster area; we will provide feedback on this as and when received.

If any guests are allowed at your discretion, you must please emphasize that water and electricity supply cannot be guaranteed at all. We are doing our best to get everything sorted and up and running as soon as possible to minimise the effect on tourism.

Various assessors have started assessments across Mabalingwe, and we expect various assessors to be on site for at least the week or so.
