The NSRI and Bitou Municipality are appealing to the public to exercise caution along the Plettenberg Bay and Southern Cape coastline following increased shark activity feeding on a whale carcass washing ashore. The carcass of a Humpback whale has been spotted in the vicinity between Natures Valley and Keurbooms Beach. #AlgoaFMNews #SharkAlertff Natures Point (salt river) drifting towards Keurbooms.
The Groot River mouth often closes up and sometimes it needs to be opened manually. This time, it’s waters naturally carved through the sand and made its way into the Indian Ocean. Spectacular footage from Bob, a resident of Nature's Valley.

A resident of Nature's Valley, took this awesome video at the Salt River mouth. Sadly, a great white shark fatally attacked a swimmer at Plett yesterday. With the whales calving and seals, otters and other mammals galore along the coastline, it is no wonder that Jaws and company are popping in for a meal. Do be careful and rather stay out of the sea. The lagoon’s water is probably slightly warmer and a better bet for water sports this time of the year. Be safe and respect our marine life.
Let us protect, respect and use the proceeds of our oceans sustainably on this World Oceans Day, celebrated globally on the 8th of June every year.
