A great day out with Xaver.
A tour exploring Jozi Markets, local food and drinks.
Finally giving my client the experience of meeting and mixing with the locals.
Of course, no better way to do this, than wearing our green and gold, while watching the SA vs NZ game.
Thanks to Kay Greenley for coming along and making the day extra special and more memorable.

A great few days of guided and self drive game drives with a very diverse bunch of people.
Great experiences from witnessing Rhino de-horning, getting chased by a grumpy bull elephant, getting extremely close to different animals, good food, good laughs and memories made was all part of it.

Thanks to Liesl from Exclusive Travel for some fantastic work, and your support.
Thanks to Stefanie Schutze for making amazing breakfast packs for my clients, for the past few tours.
A great Safari was enjoyed by British, Ukrainian, Greek and Spanish delegates.

Another day in Soweto.
Vilakazi Street...the only street in the world where two Nobel Peace Prize winners came from the same street.

An awesome four days with these wonderful people from Singapore. Finally ending with the Apartheid Museum today.

Sadly a "doom and gloom" message, but I just want to vent a little here, and hope that I am not unreasonable.
I am also asking tour guides and tour operators to also take action, and vent their own frustrations.

I am really annoyed with our minister of tourism, of whom I feel is doing nothing to better the interests of tourism in Gauteng, and more specifically Johannesburg. She is most probably on a permanent holiday herself and has no idea of whats going on in her own back yard, or fast asleep in parliament!

The current message seems to be!
"Come to Gauteng please. We have nothing to show you as it is in disarray, broken or damaged, or closed. But we will let it get worse, and then ask for funds to repair. Then have a meeting to discuss a meeting date. Then take another year to decide what we will discuss at the next meeting. But hey, let's put the prices up in the meantime., and lets just do a 200% increase".

Herewith a few problems -:

1. MANDELA HOUSE
Rates all of a sudden are escalating from R60.00 per person, for international guests to R180.00, effective as from 1 April 2024.
Absolutely ridiculous!
Mail concerns to [email protected], and lets see if you get a response!
For what we get, it sure does not warrant such a drastic increase.

2. FARM LILLIESLEAF
An iconic venue which was really wonderful, now going to ruin.
Although it is closed due to mismanagement of funds, it is by time they all get their act together and re-open for the benefit of tourism.

3. CHAF POZI (SOWETO)
All of a sudden, turnstiles put at the entrance and a R20.00 per person entrance fee charged.

4. CRADLE OF HUMANKIND
Sterkfontein Caves closed temporarily due to flooding. Today, they can send people to space, but the caves remain closed with no one able to give information regarding any progress.
And to think, that as a World Heritage Site they would all get their act together.
I have mailed and received no response as of yet!
[email protected]

5. FREEDOM SQUARE
Looking shoddy and terrible. They continuosly have people coming to inspect in order to repair, but nothing gets done. Gradually, it is getting worse each time I go there.

6. PRETORIA CHURCH SQUARE
Hell man, this is seeming worse than the Jhb CBD.
I don't even think this warrants a complaint, or a visit nowadays.
I have been in tourism for more than 18 years now, and I see how bad things are getting. Something needs to be done soon.

Please advise, or offer some solutions or steps that can be taken to wake up and shake some people awake!

The end of an era, as I did my last tour with my H1.
530 000 km's and many, many roads.
Many guests and safe travels.
Towing and packed with more than two tons of filming equipment, through the mountains with a British film crew.
Driving a solid 19 hours, only to stop for fuel.
Driving on roads that would make a Land Rover or a Jeep scared.
My beautiful H1 was a real working horse that was good to me.
Enjoy your retirement, and thankyou for your great service.

Our tour, Jozi's Jazz and Music tour this past Saturday focused on the banned music and musicians during the Apartheid era.
The influence of music, both local and abroad that played its role in opposing Apartheid.
With Niki's Oasis, we were able to have a wonderful night watching some of SA's best Jazz musicians showing their talents.
It was an absolute amazing tour to host.
Thanks to Niki for a wonderful night.

I guesse it could be worse, such as playing golf here.
Heading back to Jozi with my New Zealand clients.

An extremely hot day today in Johannesburg, but a great day on tour with the Cororve family, from Texas.
The Old Fort, Soweto and the Maboneng Precinct.
Cultural food, ice cold beers and drinks were the highlight in the heat.
Jozi, herself was not looking to shabby either.

What a pleasure working with the professional travel agent, Apsara Travel from Bulgaria last month, and one of their dynamic owners Petya Ivanova who fulfilled the role as an excellent and superb tour leader.
It was such a privilege to be of service to this great group of fantastic people from Bulgaria and Macedonia.
This epic tour commenced from Pretoria and Johannesburg to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, to the Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces with the Panorama Route, and the renowned Kruger National Park. Then, it was off to Eswatini (Swaziland), and finally ending in Cape Town.

Doing a Soweto tour for 82 people, for Avroy Shlain was not easy, but thankfully all went extremely well.
We were only as good as our preparation and as good as the assistance.

Special thanks to P**e, (a brilliant guide), my on-site guides (Thabo Jabu and Sonnyboy), Sammy for the gifts, Cleo with his trio for the great music, Lucky from Chaf Pozi for your efficiency, good food and excellent service.
