African Elephant
Adult male elephants are solitary but may associate with other bulls (adult males) in small, unstable groups. Males will leave the family unit (natal unit) between 12 and 15 years of age.
Although primarily solitary, bulls will associate with non-natal family units (family units to which they are not related). Bulls do not have preferences for specific family units and randomly move to different groupings daily and even hourly, looking for reproductively receptive females. The bulls' wandering social system allows them to maximise their reproductive potential. With this system, a single bull can potentially find up to 30 mates in a year instead of fathering four calves in three years if he associates with only one family unit.

African Warthog
Warthogs live in family groups that consist of a female and her young. Sometimes, two families, often of related females, will join together. Males usually live alone, only joining these groups to mate.
Before giving birth to a new litter, the female will chase away the litter she has been raising and enter isolation. This abandoned litter may join up with another solitary female for a short time before they go out on their own.

Gemsbok (African Oryx)

Pregnant females leave the herd before giving birth. The gestation period lasts 270 days, and mothers give birth to 1-2 offspring. The calf remains hidden 6 weeks after birth, after which the mother and calf rejoin the herd. The calf is weaned at 3.5 months, becomes independent at 4.5 months, and achieves sexual maturity at 1.5–2 years in both sexes.

Leopard
Leopards are the least social - and perhaps the most beautiful - of the African big cats. They usually keep to themselves, lurking in the dense riverine bush or around rocky hills, emerging to hunt late in the afternoon or at night.
Male and female leopards spend only briefly together while mating and then separate. The female will then raise the cubs on her own. Leopards can survive for long periods without drinking, satisfying all their moisture needs from their prey.

Maasai Warriors

One of the initiation tasks the Maasai warriors are required to complete is the raising of eight bulls. On graduation day, these bulls are presented to the elders and senior warriors. Before the ceremony, the warriors must pick three leaders within their age set.
Even though these leaders are an important part of the Eunoto, all warriors are reluctant to take the position. The chosen Olotuno is said to take responsibility for the sins of all the age-set members. The second leader chosen, called the Olaiguanani lenkashe, receives a specially chosen cow.
The third and final leader is presented with a leather strap, which is knotted in the middle. This knot is said to represent the freedom of the age set. Once the ceremony ends, the knot is untied, which enables the warriors to move freely outside their isolated camps. Warriors are now considered elders and can now act without the members of their age set.

Ndebele Tribe

During initiation, girls wear various colourful beaded hoops (called izigolwan) around their legs, arms, waist and neck. The girls are kept in isolation and are prepared and trained to become homemakers and matriarchs. The coming-out ceremony marks the conclusion of the initiation school, and the girls then wear stiff rectangular aprons (called amaphephetu), beaded in geometric and often three-dimensional patterns, to celebrate the event. After initiation, these aprons are replaced by stiff, square ones made from hardened leather and adorned with beadwork.

Himba Tribe

The Himba don’t count their years from when they were born, nor when they were conceived, but from the day that the child was a thought in his mother’s mind.
According to tradition, when a woman desires to have a baby, she goes off to the village and sits under a tree by herself, and she keeps silent until she can hear the “birth song” or the “song of the child”.
After hearing the melody, she comes back to her village to conceive the baby physically, although it is already a reality in her mind.
When the woman is ready to give birth, she is accompanied outside the village by a group of elderly women who assist her during the labour.
After the child is born, the mother and child spend a week inside a special shelter used solely for the occasion. It is built to the side of the headman’s hut, near the sacred fire, under the special protection of the ancestral spirits.
After the week has passed, the child is given a sort of christening. The headman leads them in front of the sacred fire and introduces them to the spirits of the ancestors. This event is akin to an introduction to social life.

African Tribes:

Xhosa Tribe
One traditional ritual still regularly practised is the manhood ritual, a secret rite that marks the transition from boyhood to manhood, ulwaluko. After ritual circumcision, the initiates (abakwetha) live in isolation for several weeks, often in the mountains. They smear white clay on their bodies during healing and observe numerous taboos.

South Africa's most popular destination has the scenery, the wine and the adventure. Cape Town also has a turbulent past that, amid the problems of today, make it the multicutural city it is today, bursting with the spirit, flavors and hope of the locals striving to create a better future.

I am blessed to live in such an amazing city like Cape Town, where we have great access to Nature.

These pictures were taken from a hike up our famous table mountain. We rested in a cave which was perfectly cool at 30 degrees outside.
