Elephant love at the legendary Chitake Springs in Mana Pools. ❤️

Over the two nights we spent at this wild campsite, we had large herds of elephant daily in the riverbed meters from our camp. We were surprised to find no water at the legendary "Chitake Springs", but soon realised that the springs are underground as the elephants would spend hours digging in the dry riverbed to drink and bath in the water.

What an incredible time we have been having so far on our overlanding adventure! The Central Kalahari was extraordinary; the sunsets and sunrises, the dramatic scenery, remote open wilderness, wildlife!

Signal has been few and far between, which has left us little chance to update you all on our travels, but we promise it will come!

We have been a little quiet around here lately, whilst we have been full time preparing for our overlanding adventure through Southern and South-Eastern Africa! And tomorrow is finally the departure day!!! 😍

There's a huge amount that goes in to preparing for a trip like this:
🐾All bookings have to be remade in the parks, and car passes organised.
🐾Route planning
🐾Equipping vehicles
🐾Medical planning (we will be out of signal range in remote areas for weeks at a time, so we need to be prepared for every situation, emergency and ailment!)
🐾Food supply planning and shopping
🐾Organising things at home to be left for so long (house sitters, work!)
🐾Organising all the other supplies needed to be off-grid for months on end; like the right clothes and camping & kitchen equipment!

It is safe to say it has been a bit stressful, but we know it is all going to be so worth it as we hit the road tomorrow for an adventure of a lifetime.

We will be sharing bits of our travels when we are in signal range here, but Adele also shares on her travel account if you would like to follow along there! 🧡

A sneak peak into some of the beautiful sightings from our last two weeks in Greater Kruger! It was a special stay, as always. We love the bird life in summer as many of the migratory birds return for the season. 🪶

Heavy rains came down causing flooding in a lot of the area, causing a delay in our return back to Cape Town due to accesses being flooded. The rain was much needed in the area and how could we complain to be able to spend a few more days in this magical place!

Adele in one of her favourite places in Africa, Deadvlei in Namibia. She has been visiting this beautiful country since a little girl, and every few years tries to make her way back there!

Time simply stands still in this ancient land of red dunes, cracked mud and stark dead tree trunks. You’ll have to experience it for yourself to understand ✨

Penguin love 💙

Have you ever visited the Boulders Beach African penguin colony in Cape Town? Located in Simonstown, it is one of the best places in Africa to view penguins. Large boulders, turquoise gentle waters and soft white sand are what makes this beach so special, besides the penguins of course.

You can walk on raised board walks in the penguin sanctuary which is in a protected area to allow the penguins to have a safe and quiet place to be, especially during breeding season. Afterwards walk along the boardwalk to the Boulders beach where you can swim and even snorkel amongst the penguins.

We were lucky enough to find the pride by their kill on a rainy evening drive at Gondwana Game Reserve during a recent visit with our group in December.

This magnificent male is a Kalahari black-maned lion, significantly larger than the lions found in the rest of South Africa, and sports an incredible black mane. His 3 cubs are about 6 months old, and sure have big footsteps to follow in. 🐾

A spotlight on Table Mountain 🙌

Yesterday we organised a private function on top of Cape Town's beloved Table Mountain for an international group, and it reminded us of how incredible this city and her iconic landmark is.

Table Mountain is a world heritage site and was voted one of the new Seven Wonders of the world in 2011. It is home to the richest, yet smallest, floral kingdom in the world with over 1470 species being found in the mountain range. With the city being nestled below her and then the Atlantic Ocean, it's no wonder Cape Town is considered one of the most beautiful city's in the world.

Blyde River Canyon is the largest green canyon in the world, and is located right here in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It is a 26km long canyon filled with incredible waterfalls, impressive lush scenery and panoramic views that will take your breath away.

A trip to Namibia is a trip to the soul of Africa. The silence, wide open skies and vast vistas stretching into endless horizons all combine to create a sense of timelessness with a life and unbelievable beauty of its own.

The two most well-known landmarks of this ancient dry land are Etosha Park with its vast saltpans teaming with wildlife and the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world, with the towering sand dunes of Sossusvlei displaying every hue of orangey red from dawn to sunset. The dramatic landscapes continue into the mountainous center of the country where desert rhino and elephant roam, rock art paintings from the first people are found and the Fish River Canyon takes your breath away.

Namibia is a star gazing and photographer’s dream but has something for everyone.

Africa's most mysterious and elegant cat. Did you know leopards are solitary animals? The only time you will see two together is if they have come together for mating, or it is a mother with her cub.

Spotting a leopard is always thrilling, as they have a reputation for being secretive and elusive they are seen far more seldom than lions!

There's breakfast... and then there's breakfast safari style! Don't you wish you were this this morning? 😍

Imagine being whisked away and arriving at this surreal setting, which looks straight out of a movie. The above and beyond touches is what makes all the camps so special, and their incredible warm staff. Arriving from dawn desert rhino tracking to this fully set up deluxe breakfast for two was one of those pinch me moments where you are reminded of how blessed you are and how incredible Africa is!

The beautiful and remote Dolomite Tented Camp In Etosha National Park, Namibia. Just imagine gazing out at a panorama of grassy golden plains dotted with grey shrub like trees and giraffe, zebra and wildebeest gather at the watering hole below. Lions and rhino coming for an evening drink as you make your way to the main building for a romantic candlelit dinner under the myriad of stars.

The thrill of spotting tracks as you embark out on an early morning game drive...

Have you ever had the privilege of learning from a tracker whilst on safari?

It is incredible the amount of knowledge they have from smelling scenting, observing cracked twigs and branches, small signs left behind by the animals that have passed through. We have been blown away countless times by observing a tracker find lions through the smallest signs over many kilometres. They truly are so in touch with nature and the bush, their connection is inspiring.

For many, witnessing the Great Migration is top of their list of dream safari experiences. Singita's Mara River tented Camp in remote Tanzania is a prime base for you to live out your dreams, with access to incredible private game-viewing opportunities.

Each year more than a million wildebeest migrate across the plains, crossing treacherous rivers where they have to navigate crocodiles, hippos and slippery steep banks. It is a breathtaking and sometimes brutal sight to see, but one of natures incredible spectacles.

Turn up to full volume for some magnificent, chilling lion energy! The visual may not have been great, but their roars made the whole vehicle vibrate. “I set off on a solo game drive one early morning, actually the first morning of my trip. I stopped at a beautiful viewpoint for sunrise and with the vehicle turned off I could hear the roaring not too far off. I set off in the direction of the roars and after a few kilometers I turned a corner to find these two beauties mating in the middle of the road. There was no one else around, and I spent a good hour with them as they moved slowly along the road, stopping every 20 meters to mate and then have a nap and roar. Vultures are always a wonderful sight to see, they are indicators of a thriving natural ecosystem! We didn’t spot and carcass that they may have been all congregating for, but we know it must have been somewhere. Here they are flying in and being risen up by the thermals in the air, pockets of rising warm air that helps to lift these large birds. This beautiful spotted hyena crossed the bridge over the river heading towards us, and proceeded to pass right by our game viewer, presumably headed back to its den. It is always rewarding (and exciting) waking up at the crack of dawn to head out on a game drive in the hopes of seeing some of the nocturnal animals before the sun is up. How special and adorable is this newborn turtle on his journey to the ocean? Adele was lucky enough to witness this event recently up the coast in South Africa. She had this to say: "Watching thereby turtles hatch and begin their journey was an emotional and profound experience. They embark on such a treacherous path as soon as they emerge out the sand, and it doesn't get any easier from there. It is always an amazing experience encountering a pack of Painted wolves, commonly known as African wild dogs. They are one of the most endangered mammals in the world, which makes it all the more special, especially with a large pack like this one of 40 plus pack members! They are highly social and vocal animals and move effortlessly together as a pack, playfully bouncing through the grasses whilst yelping and squealing at each other, or skilfully hunting and taking down their communal meal.
