So glad we now have SANParks managing it.

Beautiful Gladiolus specie.

Fynbos tea. The water that flows in Table Mountain National Park is a reddish brown color. Our rocks contain iron and manganese and this stains the water this color before it is released from the rocks. As it flows into the streams it becomes a darker shade as the Fynbos has a lot of tannins that are released into the water. It also creates the bubbles you see. There are exceptions to this, you will find all north facing streams to be clear water. Platteklip stream is a perfect example, as it flows down it collects in a man made dam. This is then mixed with fynbos tannins and stains a dark color again.
