International Tourism Film Festival Africa FINALIST 2022 #itffa #wbtf #cifft Linda and Uwe travelled through Richmond in November 2020, and found a hidden gem in the Central Karoo of the Northern Cape. They never expected to see such a wealth of creativity, art exhibits and collections in this small, dusty town just off of the N1 highway in the middle of South Africa. They stayed in a beautiful, spacious house on the MAPSA (Modern Art Project of South Africa) grounds, which is also home to a fantastic art collection owned by Harrie Siertsema. MAPSA, founded by Harrie and artist/curator Abrie Fourie, is a registered non-profit organisation with the aim to promote and support contemporary art and develop a rich and diverse community of artists in South Africa. Uwe and Linda interviewed Mongezi Ncombo, who is the project manager for one of MAPSA's community projects - The Richmond Bookbinding Project. Mongezi is a resident artist at MAPSA, and the Dynamic Duo had a great time learning about the project and exploring the small town of Richmond.
