Windmill delivering some really interesting sights and experiences. We even found a dead rock sucker that had been abandoned by a cormorant nearby. Also spotted: shysharks, crabs, a crayfish, and compass jellies. 🥰

In Between The Kelp helped out at the Kalk Bay Harbour underwater clean up this past weekend, fishing litter out of the ocean, and enjoying fantastic vibes with other divers. Other peeps who came to the party included Parley, the UCT Underwater Club, Trail Freedivers and the faithful little Dynamic Apnea group.

Our 2nd great tip for World Oceans Week is:

2. Conserve water: The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater will find their way into the ocean. You can conserve water by fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, and watering your lawn and garden only when necessary.

Here is challenge number one for all of us who care about the health of our oceans. Why don't you join us in making small but vital changes like this to your lifestyle?

1. Reduce plastic waste: Plastic pollution is a major problem for the oceans. You can help by reducing your use of single-use plastics, such as straws, water bottles, and plastic bags. Instead, switch to reusable alternatives or reduce the amount of plastic you consume altogether.

Swim-throughs are the most fun things to do when out on a freediving adventure. These are gaps between rock formations under the water large enough for people to swim right through! These swim-throughs are home to exquisite collections of marine life living on the rocks, and the more mobile creatures sometimes that come to swim with you!

For those with a little more energy in them, and no fear of heights, there's a great big rock at A-frame that's asking to be climbed! There's even a long, well-attached rope hanging down the South-facing side for those brave souls to use. Just remember: once you get to the top...there's only one way down!

It was raining and grey, but we had a lekker time fooling around on the outside of Windmill! We swam up to two seals in the water, but they were a bit skeptical of us and put some distance between us. No matter, we had a blast! Blowing bubble rings underwater is harder than you think!

Castle Rock Conservatory on a beautifully flat day. Flat and calm water that is...that is what we as freedivers favour! The visibility under the surface was pretty good, but the sun kept disappearing behind the clouds. Still, we had an awesome time just checking out all the jellies, fish and even a little dark shy shark.
