A fresh take on Kirsten Neuschafer lead in the Golden Globe Race race by Stephen Venables from Financial Times: "I don’t get lonely when I’m doing something I really want to do,” she told me over the sat phone....What about sleep deprivation, I asked? “Oh, I have had some long sleeps — up to six hours. But in busy shipping lanes or anywhere near land, I have to sit up awake, just closing my eyes for maybe 20 minutes at a time.... What she really wanted to talk about though, were the good times, like the thrill of sighting a land feature on Tasmania after weeks of celestial navigation in the Indian Ocean, “realising I was right there, exactly where I thought I was.”

1. Pet and House sitter - I will stay in your house to ensure the security of your house and the wellbeing of your pets.

2. Technology guide for PC and Mobile phone applications - I will assist you personally with the use or research of any program or feature on your electronic devices.

3. Companion carer for the elderly who are still independent - I will visit in person to keep someone company, to assist with everyday shopping or medical trips, and to accompany on leisure excursions in and around Cape Town to beaches, gardens, restaurants, theatres, wine farms, nature reserves. I know Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens reasonably well.

I am retired from corporate Information Technology, and qualified as a Cultural Tourist Guide for the Western Cape.

Rates:

House sitter rates: R200 per day
Pets additional negotiable. For example, up to two dogs, that can be walked together once daily, add R75 per day.

Technology guide or carer rates per visit:
Minimum 2 hours - R120 per hour.
After 4 hours - R100 per hour.
1.5 x rate for Sundays and public holidays.

Petrol cost reimbursement:
R 4.00 per kilometre for use of my vehicle.
