WTM Day 2 – Encounters That Matter 🌍✨

What a meaningful and vibrant second day at WTM 2025 Cape Town!

At the stand, I had the honour of handing over two stunning photo books by Klaus Tiedge 📚 – an extraordinary photographer – to two men who have been deeply touched by his work: one, a representative of a leading magazine from Botswana 🇧🇼, and the other, someone who has followed and admired Klaus’ photography for many years. A powerful moment of legacy and inspiration. 💫

Please get in contact with Sandra Tiedge or me to get your copy and other great prints for your guesthouse, shop or guests as a memory of Southern Africa travel when you love high quality photography.

And then there was that special moment when... the minister had to wait ⏳.
I truly appreciate that Tanja Werheit, in her role as the German Consulate General in Cape Town, took the time to stop by and see how we were doing.
Thank you so much for your continued support – it truly means the world. 🇿🇦🇩🇪🫶

I also reconnected with old friends 🤗, enjoyed some wonderful Stellenbosch wines 🍷, and wrapped up the day with our legendary Skal International Cape Town ball – full of energy, connections, ideas, and laughter.

Now we’re excited for Day 3 – and ready to welcome a very special guest to the stand between 10:30 am and 1 pm. 🕙🕐.

Okay, maybe you're not quite as excited, but my son Julian just flew in from Switzerland 🇨🇭 yesterday after four months of work in the Swiss mountains 🏔️, and he’ll be joining the Julia In Africa family team today, along with his girlfriend 💕.

Proud mama moment incoming! 👩‍👦 And as the exhibition continues, we're more than thrilled to share our vision and passion for travel that connects 🌐💙 with all of you today.🇿🇦❤️

WTM Cape Town – Day 1: What a start! ✨

A day full of energy, inspiration, warm hugs, and wonderful connections. 🌟

I’m so grateful for the chance to reconnect with people I’ve known for nearly 20 years — watching each other grow in this industry is truly special.

From planning tours for July to chatting about retreat locations for next year, public speaking events, to discovering some treasures for my online shop — the day was packed, purposeful, and personal. 🎉📅

A few highlights along the way:

I loved seeing so many familiar faces from the Cape Tourist Guides Association (CTGA) — what an amazing, passionate group of colleagues! 👩‍💼👨‍💼

At the SKÅL prize-giving, I had the joy of adding my own little touch: a beautiful coffee table book from Klaus Tiedke 📚📸.

Sharing something inspiring always feels good!

So many uplifting conversations with women in tourism and fellow small business warriors 💪💼 — thank you all for your energy!

And behind the scenes…
I squeezed in a blow-dry with Natascha this morning (miracles do happen!) 💇‍♀️✨

Wrapped up my appointments, before the opening ceremony ⏰

And had a mini fashion challenge over two pairs of shoes 👠👡.
In the end, the leopard shoes won — and they totally powered me through the day! 🐆💃

And yes — I may have turned photo-taking into a group sport. So many smiles, so much fun! 📸😁

And now? After the buzz of the exhibition, I treated myself — together with Kirsten — to a Margherita pizza 🍕 and a glass of really good red wine 🍷, at our little, local and favorite spot: the Tamboerswinkel.

A perfect end to a full day: great conversations, good food, and a quiet moment to reflect. 🌿

Huge thanks to the WTM team — thank you for believing in small businesses and creating this space where we can shine, share, and grow. 💖

It’s a feeling, a vibe, a pause button for the soul.

I am proud to say, I managed to get away from my desk to enjoy Clifton, having meaningful conversations and connections. Mostly locals around.

20 Years of Africa – A Love Story ✨🌍❤️

Twenty years ago, I set foot in South Africa for the first time, and my heart knew—this was home. 💛
I still remember the moment, sitting there, overwhelmed by emotions, as tears ran down my cheeks. 😌💫

Back then, Justin brought me here to share his love for this land.
I traveled through South Africa, my eyes wide open with wonder.

🌿🐘 On March 31, 2005, he asked me to marry him in Cape Town. 💍 We started a life together, got married in Switzerland, and in 2006, we welcomed our son, Julian. 👶💙

By then, my firstborn, Maximilian, was already a teenager, watching his mother dive headfirst into a new adventure. 🌎✨

With dreams in our pockets, we packed up everything and moved to South Africa. 🎒✈️

Life, of course, had its twists and turns. Along the way, love and adventure shaped me.
I traveled endlessly—through deserts 🏜️ and rivers, across vast savannas 🦓🌿, and under African skies.

I became a guide, a storyteller, a woman who found herself through the land and its people. 🔥🎤

The journey wasn’t always smooth. Tires got stuck, paths changed, and love took different shapes. 🚗💨

But every experience, every fire I sat around, every horizon I chased, led me to where I am now. ❤️

Today, 20 years later, I stand here, married to the most incredible man, Oliver. 💕
We often joke that without the roads we traveled before, we might never have found each other.

But maybe that’s the magic of Africa—she takes you on a journey, breaks you open, and brings you exactly where you’re meant to be. 🌅💫

Here’s to 20 years of adventure, love, and the magic of Africa! 🥂🌍✨

Unaufhaltsam – mit Charme, Mut und Willensstärke! ✨

⚽️🎉 Gestern feierte die Hout Bay United Football Community (HBUFC) ihr 10-jähriges Bestehen – und was für eine Feier das war! 🎊🔥

Ein Verein, der nicht nur Fußball, sondern auch Gemeinschaft ❤️, Chancen 🌟 und Leidenschaft 💪 fördert.

Und dazu ein absolut legendärer Gast: Jürgen Klopp! 🏆 , Danke für die Unterstützung🫶

Und dann gibt es Menschen wie meine Mutter 👑
– keine Sicherheitskraft 🚫👮,
keine Moderatorin 🎤
und keine Zweifel ❌ konnten sie aufhalten!

Mit Charme 😍, Freude 🤩, Ehrgeiz 🚀 und Willensstärke 💥 bahnte sie sich ihren Weg – direkt zu Klopp!

Während Saskia von Falken 🎙 die fantastische Moderatorin, noch ungläubig schaut 😳 und der Sicherheitsdienst sein Bestes gibt 🛑, strahlt sie ihn einfach an. Und er? 😃 Strahlt zurück.

📸 Dieses Bild sagt mehr als tausend Worte – pure Energie ⚡, Mut 💪 und Lebensfreude 🎉!

Aber das war längst nicht alles:

🔥 Rob van Vuuren brachte uns als Comedian 😂 nicht nur zum Lachen, sondern sorgte mit seiner genialen Auktion 🎤💰 auch für eine ordentliche Finanzspritze für den Verein.
Wer mehr von ihm sehen will – Ende März im Kalk Bay Theater! 🎭

🎸 Art Matthews hat mit seinen Songs 🎶 die Stimmung ordentlich angeheizt – Musik, die mitten ins Herz ging! ❤️

🎤 Sizwe Jacques Mbebe hat als Moderator 🎙 einen mega Job gemacht! 👏

💛 Und natürlich ein RIESEN Dankeschön an Iris, Andreas Henkel und das gesamte HBUFC-Team – ihr habt diese Veranstaltung unvergesslich gemacht! 💙⚽️

💰 Das Fundraising-Event war ein voller Erfolg 💯 – die Sponsoren haben gezeigt, wie sehr sie an den Verein, die Spieler an Fußball und die Fans an DEN Jürgen glauben! ABSOLUT FANTASTISCH! 🚀🎉

☀️ Waking up with the first rays of sunshine behind Table Mountain – what a blessing!

This morning, I was thinking about how excited I was yesterday about the new card machine 💳 – and about all the incredible places I get to share with my Julia in Africa team, my fellow tour guides, and travel colleagues here in Cape Town. 🌍✨

Together, we explore unique places, experience new adventures, and soak in the vibrant energy of this city.

But then, a memory came back to me: my true, wild Africa. 🌿🐘

🌍 Safaris through Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia … Wow, I have experienced so much!

And there’s nothing I love more than sharing these unforgettable moments – whether it’s families creating lifelong memories with their kids 🦁👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, young professionals seeking adventure 🌍🔥, or women traveling solo to take a break, reconnect, and find new inspiration. ✨🌿

🏙️ Cape Town is breathtaking – a world-class city, maybe even the most beautiful in the world. 🥰

But real Africa? The people, the bush … 🌿🔥 That’s something everyone should experience at least once – whether as a family adventure, a personal journey, or simply an escape into untouched nature.

And since these thoughts filled my mind this morning, I just grabbed a few pictures – moments that happened to fall into my hands. 📸✨

Just because sometimes it’s nice to pause and remember how incredible life can be.

During our JIA - Cape Point Tours we drive through and even sometimes stop in the beautiful small coastal town called Kalk Bay 🩵

This charming place has so much to offer, from strolling the charming harbor and spotting playful seals to exploring hidden treasures beautiful boutique shops, there’s something for everyone in this coastal gem. Take a hike to Boomslang Cave for epic views, dip into the serene Dalebrook Tidal Pool, and indulge in fresh fish and chips at Kalky’s or sweet treats at Olympia Café. Don’t forget to enjoy the scenic train ride along the coast or catch a live show at the Kalk Bay Theatre.

Meet the tuxedoed residents of Boulders Beach! 🐧

Did you know African penguins are incredible swimmers and can reach speeds of 20 km/h while hunting fish? 🎣 Their adorable pink glands above their eyes help them stay cool in the South African heat. 🌞

Merry Christmas 🎄✨

Wir hoffen das ihr ein paar wundervolle Weihnachts Tage mit euren liebsten verbringen durftet!
Julia ist in London unterwegs gewesen und der Rest der JIA Truppe hat ganz im südafrikanischen Stil hier in Kapstadt in der Sonne gefeiert 🌞
Wir haben heilig Abend wie in Deutschland gefeiert und am 25.12. Mit unserem südafrikanischen Teil der Familie, dazu mehr im nächsten Post!
Für mich geht es an Weihnachten an erster Stelle um Familie und Zusammensein 🫶🏽 aber auch alte Familientraditionen, Rituale und Gerichte an meine Kinder weiter zu geben, sowie neue mit meiner kleinen Familie gemeinsam zu erschaffen 👼🏼

Howzit ich bin die Alana und ich bin ganz neu im JIA - Julia in Africa Team! Ich darf diese wundervolle Frauen Truppe mit ihrem Social Media Auftritt unterstützen und allen kreativ Themen die so anfallen!

Ich bin mit 16 nach Kapstadt mit meiner Familie ausgewandert und habe mittlerweile meine eigene kleine Familie hier am Kap. Ich bin jetzt 33 Jahre alt, habe mit meinem Partner Nik eine kleine Tochter und bin gerade schwanger mit unserem kleinen Sohn.
