A tour is incomplete without stopping at the incomparable Delaire Graff Estate for a fine wine and dining experience, to admire Laurence Graff's extraordinary art collection, or simply to take in the breathtaking views.

Proud to have played a small part in this amazing, life-changing event!

Thank you to the 2020 UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA Community, LazyLizardTravel, Mr Christo Brand and Wilderness Safaris Private Journeys for arranging the visit to Lawhill on Wednesday 15 May.

The opportunity to interact with MBA business students over dinner and Mr Christo Brand's talk about his relationship with our former president, Mr Nelson Mandela and his time on Robben Island was, in the words of our Head Boy, Lutho Thomas, 'history brought to life'.

The impact of the evening will last a lifetime...

Please take a moment to view the photos shared in our earlier post... We thank everyone who made this evening a truly memorable one ..

There's one resident of Cape Point who's more secretive than the CIA. Unless you know where to look, and what signs to look for, your chances of spotting the charismatically cute but elusive Cape clawless otter are smaller than a sea louse.

That's where The Otter Man comes in, says Alison Westwood.

"Disa uniflora! Maybe the most beautiful orchid in the world? It's the national flower of the Western Cape and proudly worn as the emblem on our Western Province rugby Jersey!

I shot this one late yesterday afternoon in low light conditions as a mist came over. The flowers are stunning but the river I found them growing along was equally as magnificent. It felt like another world up there!

Amazing nature is around us everywhere but I feel we have been especially blessed with the incredible variety in Southern Africa!"

Iconic Table Mountain is a major attraction for visitors to Cape Town. A number of routes traverse the face and ‘back table’ to its legendary flat top, while ascending via Table Mountain Aerial Cableway provides a thrilling and unforgettable ride.

Once at the top, stroll across the largely flat summit – at 1 086 metres above sea level, it offers spectacular 360-degree views of the city, sea and the Cape Peninsula, then take a ‘very high tea’ with a difference at the Cableway’s restaurant.

has an abundance of surf spots along its coast, from gentle swells to bone-crunching big-wave conditions. Happily, the typically icy Cape Peninsula water temperatures rise during winter. This makes the months of June, July and August ideal for a surf. Not to mention that the winter storms make for big, exciting swells!

Insider Tip: Surfer's Corner at beach is a popular 'surf nursery', and is easily incorporated into a Peninsula Tour. The waves characteristic of this stretch of beach are gentle, ideal in the prevailing offshore wind in Cape Town's winter months.

No visit to the Cape Peninsula is complete without enjoying the antics of the resident African penguins at Boulders Beach. Also known as the jackass penguin for its raucous donkey-like bray, these endearing, flightless birds are classified as Endangered, primarily due to habitat loss and food scarcity due to overfishing.

It was our privilege to host these Wild Shots Outreach students on a Cape Peninsula tour last week. They were in Cape Town as part of the Wild Shots Wildlife Photography Conference and truly, the trip of a lifetime.

According to Wild Shots' organiser, Harriet Nimmo, all the students are from rural Limpopo, and had the most amazing day. Absolutely everything was a brand new experience for them.

Said one of the students on their feedback form: "We learned a lot, we met new people in our lives and saw the beauty of nature. Thank you and may God blesses you more. We promise to you that we will take the Knowledge we gained to our communities. The knowledge to love nature and protect it".

To assemble their first annual list of the World’s Greatest Places, TIME solicited nominations across a variety of categories—such as museums, parks, bars, restaurants, theme parks, cruises and hotels—from editors and correspondents around the world as well as dozens of industry experts. Then each one was evaluated based on key factors, including quality, originality, innovation, sustainability and influence.

Congratulations to Cape Town's Zeitz MOCAA's for your inclusion - the only South African entry!

'Hailed as “Africa’s answer to the Tate Modern” when it opened last September, Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is the world’s largest museum dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, featuring approximately 70,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space and a rooftop sculpture garden. But it’s nearly impossible to take in the artwork—including cowhide sculptures of the female form by South Africa–based artist Nandipha Mntambo and multimedia installations from Zimbabwean artist Kudzanai Chiurai—without also being wowed by the space, which was until recently a complex of abandoned grain silos.'
