Crystal Espin from WomenStuff visited Hippo Boutique Hotel and spent a night in one of its individually styled Executive Apartments.

Each apartment, designed as a unique reflection of Cape Town’s urban culture, features double-volume ceilings and wall-sized windows offering stunning views of Signal Hill. If it wasn’t for our loyal trade partners and friends, the tourism industry wouldn’t be booming as it is. Cape Country Routes is celebrating its members' natural surroundings this November, with Supertubes Guest House serving as a prime example of the area's stunning beauty. The Aloe plant, native to Jeffreys Bay, flourishes in the region, while the gardens of Supertubes are adorned with the indigenous flora of the Eastern Cape's beaches and dunes.

Adjacent to the Supertubes properties lies Supertubes Park, which features a natural coastal forest filled with milkwood trees. This forest is home to the Blue Duiker, the smallest species of duiker. These gentle little antelopes are quite tame and often pay a visit.

Supertubes Guest House is committed to maintaining the walkway and stairs leading to the beach, and guests are kindly reminded to stay off the dunes and protected areas to help preserve this beautiful environment.

In October 2023, some of the staff at Wildehondekloof, a member of Cape Country Routes, attended a to learn how to incorporate local fynbos into their menus.

Wildehondekloof is now producing its own fynbos-infused salts, herbs, and vinaigrettes, using species that grow naturally in the fields of the Wildehondekloof Game Reserve. They are now actively creating these items for gift packages that guests can purchase as unique mementos for family and friends.

The six main fynbos species they focus on include Snowbush, Rhinobush, Cancerbush, Honeydew, Buchu, and Silverbush. Each has noteworthy medicinal benefits that promote wellness and may aid in managing certain health issues.

This initiative showcases Wildehondekloof’s commitment to sharing the remarkable properties of fynbos with their guests and promoting the unique flavors and health benefits these indigenous plants offer.
