Owl’s Rest olive and lavender farm - Visitors get the opportunity to experience a working lavender farm where Lavender, Rosemary and Rose Geranium are harvested by hand and then steam distilled to extract the beautiful essential oils and floral water from these crops. These herbal products, which are well known for their wonderful fragrance and therapeutic benefits, provide the foundation for the wide range of products produced and sold at the farm. Alongside these products, the farm offers its own smooth blend of fresh extra virgin olive oil, delicious table olives and tapenades and some unusual and delicious fruit preserves. It’s with a heavy heart, that the JARAT family pays tribute and says a heartfelt good-bye to Tony De Villiers who succumbed to his battle against COVID.

A true JARAT ambassador, Tony’s kind heart and infectious smile will be missed and never forgotten, he leaves a huge gap in the hearts of our staff, and guests.

EXCELSIOR WINE ESTATE - ROBERTSON. The De Wet family have farmed at this estate in the Robertson valley since 1859. The wine estate is beautiful, Surrounded by mountains and dams. Enjoy a gorgeous wine tasting on the deck overlooking the dam while watching horses graze along the banks.

Their unique blend and bottle experience is not to be missed, sample wines and then blended your own bottle including corking and labelling.

Cogmanskloof Tunnel - The window to the Klein Karoo.

Arguably one of the most beautiful mountain passes in South Africa, this pass between Ashton and Montagu beauty is not to be missed.

Glance up at the top of the tunnel before entering and you will see an old fort balanced on the top, constructed from the very same rocks as its surrounds, hence not many people see it. It was built in 1899 by the English, during the Anglo Boer War.
