Flying over the African rainforest. It's vast and wide stretches appear to still be intact. This is the expanse of the Sangha Trinational, a World Heritage Site for its outstanding biodiversity. It covers 750,000ha or nearly 3,000 square miles across the three countriesof Cameroon, Republic of Congo and Central African Republic.

Walking, boating, time with incredible forest elephants and some wonderful people... With secrets of the forest to share.

East Africa. Wilderness. Leopard.
The rains continue to fall across the region. Not always easy. The rewards are privacy with fewer visitors in Africa's iconic parks.... And the animals are still here.....

Excitement in the air.... at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro.

We're looking forward to the coming opening of Angama Amboseli. With walks, night drives and relaxed game drives in Kimana Sanctuary as well as roaming the iconic Amboseli National Park, this is sure to add a new dimension our Kenyan safaris.

Forest Elephant

We recently had the privilege of boating the pristine rivers of Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Our .africa guides made the most of some perfect conditions to deliver a superb elephant sighting on the river bank. Add in great company, the elusive Pel's Fishing Owl, funky fish, a magnificent Congo sunset and you have a near perfect afternoon safari.

Thanks to the whole .africa team!

World Gorilla Day 2023.

Aerial shot of a magnificent wild silverback in a natural rainforest opening (bai). The incredible conservation work of continues to inspire us.

The sizeable Lowland Gorilla population in the Republic of Congo is a testament to the work of all conservation partners in the region. As a visitor to this remote region, the chance to encounter these magnificent mammals is real and the experience surreal!

Green lung of Africa.

We're headed back to Odzala in Republic of Congo! We'll be moving from vibrant Brazzaville on the banks of the Congo River to this rainforest wilderness. We're excited for the big mammals like Forest Elephants and Forest Buffalo to Lowland Gorillas and some incredible birdlife to mention just a few.

With the teams from .africa and we'll be in great hands!

New Yorkers and global travellers will know this scene. Not quite the Kalahari but close!

For naturalists like us, time spent wandering the hallowed halls of the great overlooking Central Park is almost as thrilling as being on safari!

At first glance you would think it’s a leopard!

A mother cheetah and her two cubs have kept our guests entertained over the past two days with playful sightings.

It’s always a treat when our Mammoth guests get to see cheetahs while on safari - cheetahs are seen way less often than lions and leopards in this part of the world!

World chimpanzee day is a celebration for over 60 years of research and conservation led by Jane Goodall, dedicated to protecting chimpanzees and their habitats throughout Africa.

Africa is a destination Mammoth Safaris specializes in. Uganda is one of our favorite destinations and is a very popular destination for our guests who want to experience chimpanzees and mountain gorillas in the wild.

On a recent trip to Uganda, Keegan got to experience and photograph chimpanzees in the Kibale National Park. The Kibale National Park is home to over 1500 chimpanzees, making it one of the best destinations in Uganda for our guests to see chimpanzees.

It’s hard to describe the thrill of finally coming face to face with a black leopard after only seeing it in storybooks and as images like ghosts on social media! Doing so with passionate people - priceless! Laikipia Wilderness Camp

In the Serengeti, this male leopard, who had killed two young wildebeest was extremely well concealed in a thicket right next to the road before our guide Karipoi's sharp eyes spotted him. All we could see between the foliage were rosettes so we decided to move further away and wait a bit

A while later he emerged from the cover of the thicket and moved quickly across the recently burnt ground to watch us from a distance

On safari, patience and giving animals the space they need will reward you with a more enjoyable sightings and possibly a better photographic opportunity such as this one.

If you recognise this, you'll know the excitement on this safari right now!

Finding this incredible endangered pangolin on our morning game drive not far from the Silale Swamp was the perfect start to the 'P' morning. We also had parrots, pelicans (flock of 200), a parisoma, pigs (warthogs), a praying mantis, Proboscideans (eles) all whilst enjoying Petit dejeuner (thanks ) in the bush! Thanks to the team for helping to compile the P list.

The leopard. Sought after, elusive, beautiful, curious, stealthy and dangerous for some! The definition of feline.

They can be found in a wide variety of habitats and countries in Africa and Asia. We were fortunate to spend many hours with this female and her shy cub recently in the woodlands of Botswana's Okavango Delta. A safari enthusiast's dream!

One of the many elephants seen a few days ago on a game drive in the 'Place of Elephants' in south-east Zimbabwe.

Perspective

In these challenging times, a change of perspective can be healthy! Here we are off the vehicle and eye level with a chameleon we found crossing the road in the Malilangwe Reserve.

This is the view over the Chivilila Falls in Gonarezhou National Park. With big summer rain the Runde River is flowing strongly.

On this safari we had all our food and gear packed by the awesome team Pamushana and headed south into the park. It's not called the' Place of Elephants' for nothing and we spotted several herds and bulls along the way as well as from the viewpoint over the falls. It seems the hard work being put in by and .zoological.society amongst others is restoring this very special corner of Zimbabwe. Hat's off and we look forward to the park's recovery go from strength to strength.

Time to feast in the Kalahari.

This meerkat pup is making the most of the abundance of food available with the exceptional rains this year. An armored ground cricket is no more.

With habituated Meerkat families to follow, guests at Tswalu are treated to one of the most engaging wildlife experiences in Africa. Combined with the very different Kalahari landscape, wildlife and conservation projects, this make Tswalu a prime choice on our Southern African safaris.

Just a glimpse of the incredible setting of Singita Pamushana in the south-east lowveld of Zimbabwe. We're very excited to be heading this way shortly and seeing what the lush green season has to offer. The rivers and other waterbodies are full so we'll be able to cruise and explore the full extent of Malilangwe Dam as part of the safari.

Today is World Wildlife Day.

It should be everyday but today is set aside to focus on specifically Forests and Livelihoods. This is the time to celebrate and talk about forests, forest management models and practices that work for human livelihood and long term conservation.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the montane forests of Rwanda which are home to the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Involving local people who depending on the resources and water from the forests is key to the survival of both. Park authorities manage the park and tourism has a key role to play in making connections for both travellers and citizens. One example is Singita's Kwitonda Lodge. Here once forested land was turned to agriculture and is now being returned to nature where gorillas and buffalo have been venturing out into this newly protected space.

Green season dreams.... As the rain season continues across Southern Africa, we had a special chance to explore the northern reaches of Chief's Island by helicopter where vehicles currently can't go.

Pilot Dylan expertly drifted us across the watery green landscape, scanning flowing channels and rising backwaters. Spotting hippos, Buffalo, elephants, giraffe, birds and even lions from the air is a real privilege. We found a few of the swamp-dwelling Sitatunga antelope along the way. Scanning the Simbira channel on Chief's Island we spotted some magestic large elephant bulls and sadly one dead one being eaten by a hoarde of large crocs. More pics and stories to follow....
