In a magnificent moment four Kordofan giraffe are pictured crossing a river in Zakouma National Park. With their range restricted to some of Africa’s most hostile areas, including Chad, South Sudan, Cameroon, DRC and CAR, this pale spotted subspecies is extremely rare and estimated to number fewer than 2,000 individuals. Under the protection of African Parks, approximately 1,000 individuals live in Zakouma, making it the largest population of Kordofan giraffe in their rangeland. Visit www.african-parks.org to make a donation towards the protection of these precious conservation areas.
