Doing some research on behalf of our guests: Grateful for the 7 true wild life sanctuaries we have in our country compared to the 400 other facilities making money with gaming. Either way it evokes mixed feelings. Some animals we should just not be encountering. We have taken so much of what is wild, that it is our privilege with a heavy heart for what is lost!

What natural splendour do we get to enjoy for free. The Winelands (Fraanshoek, Stellies and Paarl) are basking in the sunlight with their fullest of palettes. There is wine pairing (chocolate, cheese, sushi), beer/brandy tasting, food markets, strawberry picking. To top it all, the Western Cape is seeing more Wildlife Sancturies run with heightened awareness for animal wellbeing and balanced wild species protection.

Simon's Town Naval Festival was a busy colony of cars last weekend... maybe we'll actually make the dock yard concert next year... For now there are enough Weekend Heritage Walking Tours (Sat./Sun.2pm-4h30pm) to look forward to in exploration of what "used to be the ornate skeleton-key to the entire Southern hemisphere. No single bay in the world perhaps harboured so many of the horrors and glories of high British Colonialism or had so much imperial revenue thrown at it through covert wars just to protect its sanctuary status." And a sanctuary indeed it is, as we wandel down towards Boulders Beach to visit our endangered penguins or kayak to see their bobbing rafts at sea, all the while remembering that this little "dreadnought marina" city sits on both the 'Cape of Storms' and 'the Fairest Cape in all the Circumference of the Earth'.

I observe Local's & Guest's Delight at Glencairn Beach - Watching the Whales swim by as the train meanders along the tracks and a seal surfaces with playful joy in surfing the waves. Some folk walking happy dogs, and families soaking in the perfect late Friday afternoon present a peaceful picture. More beauty for our guests to look forward to at the brink of European Winter .
