Azolla and other aquatic plants like Hornwort and Pondweed help keep our water clean and provide homes for fish and birds in Intaka Island, Ratanga Park, and beyond.

These plants are essential for a balanced ecosystem and harmless to humans. Read our latest blog post to learn more: https://intaka.co.za/the-role-of-aquatic-plants-in-century-city/

Celebrating Our Rangers on World Rangers Day!

Today, on 31 July, we join the world in celebrating World Ranger Day. This day honours the incredible work of rangers as the key protectors of parks and conservation areas. It's also a time to remember the many rangers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty while safeguarding our natural heritage.

Meet some of our dedicated rangers at Intaka Island:

• Robin (Senior Ranger): Skilled in snake handling 🐍 and all aspects of conservation, safeguarding our wildlife.

• Ruan (Senior Ranger): An all-round conservationist and expert snake handler 🐍, ensuring safety and balance in our ecosystem.

• Siya (Junior Ranger): Our plant identification pro 🌱, with a deep love for our diverse flora.

• Kayla (Junior Ranger): Our bird identification expert 🦆, always spotting our feathered friends (not pictured).

Thank you for your hard work and dedication! Let's continue to support and appreciate our rangers today and every day.
