Stay Safe

Keep in mind - valuable items such as handbags, cameras, wallets/purses and mobile phones, should be kept close to your person at all times. Moreover, make sure that you are aware of your surroundings. It is important to remember that crime is prevalent in any large city, however, Cape Town remains a safe city thanks to numerous endeavors by Cape Town officials to implement various security protocols. Safety patrols are regularly done by the South African Police Service throughout the city on horseback and there are visible public safety officials within the city – day and night.

When To Go

Cape Town has the pleasure of enjoying mild winters making it a great city to escape to all year round. Summer not only brings the warmth with it, but provides spectacular outdoor activities. Enjoy glorious views from the numerous hiking trails that the city has to offer or relax on one of Cape Town’s spectacular Blue Flag beaches. Feeling adventurous? Cape Town is home to one of the seven wonders of the world. Table Mountain is well worth visiting for its spectacular views from the top.

Beautiful wine farm and restaurant. Large pieces of art in garden areas and stunning views of Gordons bay and mountains. Fine dining restaurant with scrumptious dishes and desserts all beautifully plated and paired with their stunning wines. Definitely worth a visit!

Today I will be visiting Idiom da Capo vineyards which is on Sir Lowrys Pass.

This wine estate is owned by the The Bottega family who have Italian heritage. Their decision to plant Italian varietals as part of their diversified portfolio of grapes, and actively promote these grape varietals in South Africa, is a celebration of this heritage.

They have a tasting room, Restaurant and Pizzeria which all overlooks beautiful gardens.

Today I travel to Bloubergstrand which is a suburb of Cape Town along the shores of Table Bay, 15 km due north of the city center of Cape Town. The name Bloubergstrand literally means "blue mountain beach" in Afrikaans, and is derived from Blaauwberg, a nearby mountain. Bloubergstrand is mainly a residential area, and attracts large numbers of visitors. The beach at Bloubergstrand is a popular location for a classic view of Table Mountain across the bay. Robben Island is located 6,9 km west of the coast of Bloubergstrand.
