Thanx Rachel! "I worked with Dirty Boots as a guest speaker for their 2024 National Conference hosted in the Drakensberg, and bringing together leaders in the Adventure Industry. I have spoken at events pretty much around the globe, and for all the right reasons THIS was one I will always remember! As a speaker, they created an excellent match, listened to my needs and the conference facilitators went out of their way to assist and make it memorable experience for all. As a conference it was super fun, extremely well organised and really interesting too. If you are searching for the top notch adventures in South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland then look no further! Dirty Boots! Dirty Boots provides an exceptional service of linking a wide array of unique, memorable and sometimes extreme adventures, making your selection an easy and fun experience."

What is the one activity you must not miss when you visit South Africa?

It has to be hot-air ballooning. Hot-air ballooning has come a long way since its first three passengers, a sheep, a duck and a rooster lifted into the air in 1783. Now this thrilling experience is available in all corners of the earth and South Africa can boast some of the most inspiring and dramatically beautiful hot-air balloon sites in the world including Cape Town, Pilanesberg, and the Drakensberg.

Imagine watching as the first rays of the rising sun light up Table Mountain and the vineyards of the Cape Winelands burst into emerald green from the dawn darkness. Imagine floating over the roaring Augrabies Falls of the Orange River in the Northern Cape or the mountainous regions of South Africa like the Maluti and the Magaliesberg.

The magic of hot-air ballooning lies in its ability to transport you into a world of wonder and tranquillity, making it the perfect activity for special celebrations; it’s a top activity choice for honeymooners and those celebrating anniversaries.

For wildlife enthusiasts, there's no better way to observe the Big Five than from above. In Pilanesberg National Park, your aerial vantage point over the plains can reward you with sightings of elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo. Similarly, the Kapama Nature Reserve near Hoedspruit and the Sabie River Valley in Mpumalanga offer thrilling opportunities to game watch from above.

The early bird catches the sunrise! Hot-air ballooning is a dawn activity, primarily for weather-related reasons, but there can be no better way to watch an African sunrise than while drifting silently over a land flushed in the morning light.

Operators offer a range of supplements from safe early morning pickups to luxurious picnics. Champagne is usually served during or after a hot-air balloon flight. This is a fitting beverage for a premier experience and is a tradition that goes back to the 1780s when hot-air balloons first took to the skies.

Whether you are looking for romance, adventure, or a new way to experience South Africa's natural beauty, hot-air ballooning provides an unmatched experience that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime. So, when you plan your trip to South Africa, make sure to include this magical adventure in your itinerary.

Shark Cage Diving Adventures in South Africa.

Experience the thrill of a lifetime with shark cage diving in South Africa! Slip into the cage and get ready for an unforgettable encounter. From the mighty great white and awe-inspiring orca to bronze whalers, the diversity here is incredible.

South Africa is blessed with the confluence of three great oceans and over 3000-kilometers of coastline. This unique mix makes its coastal waters a prime location for marine wildlife encounters. The most legendary of these encounters is having a little eye-to-eye contact with the great white shark, apex predator of the sea.

For adventure travel enthusiasts and wildlife lovers alike, shark cage diving is an unparalleled experience. Dive operators prioritize your safety and ensure an educational adventure, where marine biologists and highly qualified guides are on hand to provide insights into the behaviour and conservation of these magnificent creatures.

Whether you're a seasoned diver or a complete novice, South Africa's shark cage diving tours cater to all levels of experience. The best time to dive is from April to September, when shark activity peaks, guaranteeing unforgettable encounters.

Tour operators often include a scenic boat ride, offering breathtaking views of the coastline and the opportunity to spot other members of the marine big 5, such as the Cape fur seal, bottle nosed dolphin and southern right whale.

Some of the beautiful locations where shark cage operators are active are:

False Bay - a short hop from Cape Town. Best spot for seeing great white sharks breaching.

Gansbaai - the 'shark capital of the world'.

Mossel Bay - welcoming town at the start of the Garden Route with generally calm sea conditions.

Aliwal Shoal - KwaZulu-Natal's diving mecca with a dizzying array of different shark species.

Thank you Dewald!

"Best Johan. I trust that you are safe home and will have a little calmness after the Summit. Thank you very much for the efforts and sacrifices that you and Esna went through to arrange this Summit. It was one for the books.

The support to the Drakensberg Boys Choir was an excellent idea and from what I gathered everyone enjoyed it as well.

Also, a big thank you for providing me the opportunity to talk. I hope that it was something that you had in mind, and that it stood up to your expectations.

Please keep in touch and if you have any suggestions that you want to make regarding the new course that we will develop, please feel free to do so."

With over 100 delegates signed up, we are busy with the final touches for our 2nd South African Adventure Summit! 11 to 14 June at Mountain Splendour Lodge in the Southern Drakensberg.

We are super stoked to meet everyone!

A massive thanks to everyone who made this event possible.

Especially Johan Radcliffe (part owner of Dirty Boots) who worked incredibly hard to make this possible. Never giving up, always believing anything is possible! This event is a true testament to what you can achieve by always being positive and believing in yourself and others NO matter what.
