🥳👏 This past holiday season has been one for the books, if not the BEST yet! There was SO MUCH fun, adventure, excitement, oohs & aahs, conversation and enjoyment had by our passengers over the many trips we did.

🏞👀 Our scenic train journey from Cape Town to the vibrant Elgin Railway Market is more than just a ride; it’s an adventure through the heart of Cape Town and the Overberg! Even lifelong residents of this city will see familiar sights from a fresh, new angle as we traverse this historic route.

🌍😎 The route: starting at Harbour Bridge Platform near the V&A Waterfront, the train makes its way through Table Bay Harbour, through Milnerton, past Century City, and then on to Bellville. From Bellville, the train heads down to Eersterivier, past Somerset West, and then up and over the majestic Sir Lowry’s Pass, finally stopping in Elgin.

🌊🌄 Just after the start of the trip, when passing Milnerton, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Table Mountain and Table Bay, with Robben Island visible in the distance — a striking reminder of Cape Town's unique blend of history and natural beauty. “We are three cousins who are all pensioners, we all lost our husbands in the last four years and we decided to become "Girls on the Go Buddies". We have done an international trip already, a few local getaways, a few day tours/adventures and our latest one "The steam train day trip Cape Town to Elgin".

👏 From the moment we boarded the train for our +/- 4hr trip to Elgin (usually a 3 hr trip but we had delays along the way), through to the 2 hrs spent at the Elgin Market and the return trip (3,5 hrs) on the train back to Cape Town there was just excitement throughout. The beautiful sceneries along the route, the fabulous crew on board (with special mention of Dottie our coach overseer - she was the absolute best !!!) and definitely Sharron - a true Ambassador for Cere Rail Company. The entire crew were sooo knowledgeable and we ended our amazing journey with so much knowledge about steam trains.

This will definitely be an ongoing journey for us three going forward visiting other train destinations with Ceres Rail Company.” - Fatima.

All Aboard To The SA Navy Festival!

⚓️🚢 All aboard! We’re headed to the SA Navy Festival on Sunday 06 October 2024. So if you’re interested in anything nautical, from ships to submarines, or our defence force, or simply like to learn and experience new things then this is for you! 🥳🛤 The South African Navy Festival will take place from Friday October 4th until Sunday October 6 in Simon’s Town, giving the public a chance to visit the navy dockyard. In previous years, the festival has attracted 60 000 to 100 000 people over the three-day period! Take this rare chance to explore ships and submarines, as well as various Defence Force exhibits. 🎶😎 There will be indoor and outdoor demonstrations for the duration of the festival, like precision drill demonstrations, firefighting, dog shows and “gun-runs” as well as performances by the talented SA Navy band.
