🚂🛤 Cape Town and surrounds from a different angle: Ceres Rail Company to Elgin Railway Market!
🏞👀 Our scenic train journey from Cape Town to the vibrant Elgin Railway Market is more than just a ride; it’s an adventure through the heart of Cape Town and the Overberg! Even lifelong residents of this city will see familiar sights from a fresh, new angle as we traverse this historic route.
🌍😎 The route: starting at Harbour Bridge Platform near the V&A Waterfront, the train makes its way through Table Bay Harbour, through Milnerton, past Century City, and then on to Bellville. From Bellville, the train heads down to Eersterivier, past Somerset West, and then up and over the majestic Sir Lowry’s Pass, finally stopping in Elgin.
🌊🌄 Just after the start of the trip, when passing Milnerton, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Table Mountain and Table Bay, with Robben Island visible in the distance — a striking reminder of Cape Town's unique blend of history and natural beauty. As we leave the city, at the foot of Sir Lowry’s Pass, the landscape transitions from urban to the beautiful fynbos vegetation, vineyards, and orchards that the Western Cape is famous for.
🛍🤤 The train steadily climbs Sir Lowry's Pass and beyond, offering captivating views of the Hottentots Holland mountains. Including a seated massage in a private spa compartment if you’re feeling the need. Book for this using: 073 407 1557. The journey culminates as we arrive at the market, where you can explore local artisan stalls, food vendors, and the market’s charming, art-deco vibe. Whether you're savouring delicious bites, shopping for unique crafts, or simply enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, there’s something for everyone.
