Examples of interviewing skills
An interview provides you with an opportunity to show the interviewer the soft skills you have that will make you a valuable asset to their company. Here are a few examples of skills you can use during an interview:
Verbal communication: Throughout the interview, the interviewer will pay attention not only to the things you say but also to how you say them. Verbal communication includes the pitch and tone of your voice, speaking clearly and concisely, being honest and polite and using active listening to respond appropriately.
Nonverbal communication: The interviewer will also pay close attention to your nonverbal communication skills throughout the interview. Nonverbal communication is what your body language tells someone during a conversation. Nonverbal communication includes eye contact, posture, facial expressions and gestures.
Time management: Time management skills include the ability to plan, prepare and organize your time to work efficiently and productively. You can show your time management skills during an interview by arriving to the interview on time and being aware of how much time you spend answering each question.
Confidence: Self-confidence is important during an interview because it helps make the interviewer feel more confident about your skills, experience and knowledge.

WHAT IS CAREER READINESS??
Career readiness is the process of preparing yourself to enter the workforce. This involves learning new skills, creating goals and preparing for a career. Career readiness can help you ensure success in your workplace, teach you how to manage your career and equip you to apply the skills you've learned.
Career readiness also helps employers understand your abilities and experience. When employers notice that you've prepared yourself to enter the workforce, this may influence their hiring decision. Career readiness may also include networking events and recruitment events, where agencies can meet students and source talent directly. Career readiness activities may include mock interviews, career events, internships, volunteering and resume-writing.

Professionally, job readiness needs to include:
1) Understanding your job
Job readiness here can be achieved by staying up to date with and understand the roll you have to perform in the business or company. This means that you also need to understand what skills are required today or in the future to be able to continue to effectively perform your role.
2) Understanding the labour market
By understanding the labour market and labour market trends you will be able to understand the demands on your role in the industry and also what is required for the role in the future. This will assist in responding to questions such as “Where would you like to be in 3 years time” by understanding where your role needs to be in 3 years time.
3) Skills and development
Being able to articulate your skills, your gaps and areas of development will also help in not only ensuring you are job ready but that you can demonstrate this. You have to demonstrate that you have the skills for the position during an interview.
4) Presentation and communication
Your level of professionalism and your personal etiquette also assists in demonstrating you are job ready. Being able to communicate confidently, articulately and with clarity is also important for job readiness. Practice the interview skills and start to develop yourself from there.
