And you tried to change didn't you? Closed your mouth more, tried to be softer, prettier, less volatile, less awake…

As a society we have made huge strides in improving the position of women in society. However, gender-based violence is a national crisis that has to end, so that all South African women and girls may live in peace, safety and dignity

To get further in life there is this place. It cant be found on any map, miles of the bitten track. With twists and turns, with ups and downs. A place where hurdles are there to be jumped and where every dead end can turn into an open road so dark it is hidden to the public eye. So far away it is hardly ever reached. So electrifying that few dare go there. A place to reach for, belong for, to never give up on and always hold on to . A place that only you can get to … yourself

Rian Boshoff tells LatestSightings.com the story:

"We were on a drive with Taxan at Djuma and we were driving along riverbed when this bull white rhino crossed the road.
He stood still right next to the road and we went past him to continue our leopard search. As we did that, the Rhino suddenly charged.
And as you can imagine, the guide stepped on the gas and we were going around corners like madness 😂
The guide decided to head for the bush by making a sharp right turn trying to throw him off guard because of their bad sight, but the Rhino just kept charging.
After all the chaos the guide informed us that it wasn’t the first time this bull charged him and he doesn’t know what the story is with this bull.
It was chaos and if it wasn’t for the guide with the right experience it could have been much worse!"

I married a thief, Brother. Please don’t laugh. I am serious and not joking! My marriage is nothing less than cinema!
I saw his face for the first time when he was seizing my money and the prescription I was carrying to buy my father’s medicine.

My father was admitted into the central hospital in very critical condition.
That evening after receiving my salary as a housemaid, I was on my way to buy medicine carrying my purse with my hand with the prescription inside. Suddenly someone come in front of me and seized everything from my hand and ran away! It happened so quickly that I couldn't think about anything and started crying loudly while sitting beside the road! Lots of people started gathering around me. but no one helped me! I don’t remember how long I was crying like that.

That night I couldn't go to hospital to see my father with empty hands! I returned home and could not sleep the whole night thinking about how will I be able to face my father the next morning! Early in the morning I went out to go to the toilet and when I returned just outside my room I was completely surprised to see a packet full of medicine and all my money along with the prescription at my doorstep! I couldn't believe my eyes! I asked everyone who lived near my room about it but no one saw anyone in front of my room!

The next morning again, outside my room, I found a packet full of fruits. Like this, for the next 15 days I got different things related to my father's illness in front of my door. I started to stay awake at night to catch the person, but I couldn't. However, one night I was determined to catch him, so I was waiting for him outside my room at some distance. When he arrived, I was standing behind him!

He said when he seized my money and when everyone was seeing me crying sitting beside the road, he was in that crowd. He felt very guilty and decided to quit his activity as a thief. He said, " During my whole life I never knew what a father was nor what family was. When I saw you crying for your sick father, I understood what love is!" The very next day he started working. He told me that everything he bought for my father is with his working money! With the way he tried to apologize to me, I could not help but forgive him and fell in love with the thief. For the last 5 years we have been happily married. As a street child he was never loved. Now we love each other a lot. We work together and now I really believe that it is only kindness and love that can change a human heart...

I never told my children what my job was. I never wanted them to feel ashamed because of me. When my youngest daughter asked me what I did, I used to tell her hesitantly that I was a labourer. Before I went back home every day, I used to take a bath in the public toilets so they did not get any hint of the work I was doing. I wanted to send my daughters to school, to educate them. I wanted them to stand in front of people with dignity. I never wanted anyone to look down upon them like the way everyone did to me. People always humiliated me. I invested every penny of my earnings for my daughters’ education. I never bought a new shirt, instead I used the money for buying books for them. Respect is all I wanted them to earn for me. I was a cleaner. The day before the last date of my daughter’s college admission, I could not manage to get her admission fees. I could not work that day. I was sitting beside the rubbish, trying hard to hide my tears. All my co-workers were looking at me but no one came to speak to me. I had failed and felt heartbroken. I had no idea how to face my daughter who would ask me about the admission fees once I got back home. I was born poor. I believed nothing good can happen to a poor person. After work all the cleaners came to me, sat beside me and asked if I considered them as brothers. Before I could answer, they each handed me their one day's income. When I tried to refuse everyone; they confronted me by saying, ‘We will starve today if needed, but our daughter has to go to college.’ I couldn't reply to them. That day I did not take a shower; I went back to my house like a cleaner. My oldest daughter is going to finish her University very soon. Three of them do not let me go to work anymore. My oldest girl has a part time job and the other three of them do tuition. Oftentimes, my oldest daughter takes me to my working place. She feeds all my co-workers along with me. They laugh and ask her why she feeds them so often. My daughter told them, ‘All of you starved for me that day so I can become what I am today, pray for me that I can feed you all, every day.' Nowadays I don't feel like I am a poor man. Whoever has such children, how can he be poor? – GMB Akash

And then I was a refugee... let us at Southern Ambition take you on journeys made by asylum seekers and refugees every day. Understand the situations they face and the choices they must make.

It can overwhelming to learn about the tragic conflicts that have divided families, nations, and our world. However, you have the opportunity to volunteer to help refugees—and even volunteer in refugee camps. While you can't begin to imagine the plight of a refugee, when you volunteer abroad, you’ll get the chance to achieve a better understanding of what life is like for refugees.

"Travel isn't always pretty. It isn't always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that's okay. The journey changes you, it should change you. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind" —Anthony Bourdain

This quote encloses everything we feel about travel and working with Julia Malmsten from http://www.shelovesadventures.com .

Working with her is always a life changing experience, it is beautiful, profound, hard, painful, raw and above all hella awesome.
