A little fun fact for your Friday! 🦉 The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is home to approximately 280 bird species, of which only around 92 are permanent residents. The remaining species include roughly 17 nomadic, 50 migratory, and 121 vagrant species.

Here’s a fun fact for your Friday! You might overlook these birds at first glance, however, they turn out to be extremely interesting.

The Marabou Stork, often called the Undertaker bird, is one of Africa's "Ugly 5" for obvious reasons. They frequently eat carrion alongside vultures and are known for their indiscriminate diet, feasting on almost anything. They’re also drawn to grass fires, where they swoop in to catch small animals fleeing the flames.

Standing up to 5 feet tall with a wingspan reaching 12 feet, these Storks weigh only 20 pounds. They have a lifespan of 25-41 years, are monogamous, and communicate by clattering their beaks or using their throat pouches, as they cannot vocalize.
