GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!
Vietnam has fully reopened its borders as of 15 March 2022, after nearly two years of closure. Tourists are welcome back with no quarantine, no test on arrival and just a minimum of requirements as below.
The government further announced that Vietnam will apply the pre-pandemic visa regulations and resumes its unilateral visa exemption policy for citizens from 13 countries with E-visas available for citizens from 80 countries.
Requirements
Negative COVID-19 Test
Travellers entering Vietnam by air must have negative test results for COVID-19, except for children under 2 years old. The test can be done using the RT-PCR method within 72 hours before departure or the rapid antigen methods within 24 hours and has to be certified by the competent authority of the country performing the test.
Medical declaration
Upon entry, before immigration, tourists must make a medical declaration using the PC-COVID medical declaration application.
If passengers have symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection they should immediately report to the health agency at the border gate.
Health Monitoring
Visitors are required to self-monitor their health for 10 days after the date of entry. If passengers have symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection, they must immediately notify the nearest medical facility. During their stay, visitors must follow the local COVID-19 regulations at their destination These preventive measures include wearing a facemask and disinfecting hands with an antiseptic solution.
Good to know
• No quarantine is required;
• The competent authorities required to conduct and certify COVID-19 tests are, in most cases, normal doctors and hospitals. However, this might vary from departure country to departure country. Your Airline will be able to confirm which tests they accept to check you in. We will update you when further information is available;
• In case there are technical difficulties with the PC-COVID app, there will be alternative ways for medical declarations. In the past, paper documents were handed out during flights or at immigration;
• Once you are in Vietnam you will fall under local law and must follow the COVID-19 preventive measures in the country the same as all other citizens. At the moment of this writing (16 March 2022) this means you will have to wear a mask in public. Apart from that most restrictions are lifted. A few public places might require temperature checks and proof of vaccination;
• At the moment of writing, no vaccine or vaccination certificate is required to enter the country. However, this might change at a moment’s notice;
• E-Visas will be available for the 80 countries that could apply before the pandemic. Others can apply for Visas via their respective Vietnam embassy;
• The unilateral visa exemption policy will resume and citizens from Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the U.K. will be allowed to visit Vietnam for up to 15 days without a visa regardless of passport type and entry purpose.
