THE REAL DEAL
Looking for an authentic, enquiring minded, highly experienced English speaking South African National tour guide then please contact me for a chat. Craig 0820917983

NB: The big local operators feel its morally ok to employ foreign nationals and refugee guides who are realistically incapable of sharing our story. Instead of the real deal.

South African's are "hungry" (and we dont "eat the cats and dogs") to share with you as to "what happened, what it was like, and what it is like now".

Alas the likes of African Eagle or Evanoes dont care. I know because I've worked with them.

This should be a wake up call to South African inbound operators, especially the French one's who are knowingly being unethical!

KALK BAY near Cape Town - "Coolest Neighbourhood in the World!

Kalk Bay has garnered the title of ‘coolest neighbourhood in the world’ on a recent Forbes list along with 11 other areas. This is no surprise as Kalk Bay offers a quaint escape from the city hustle and bustle with art nouveau chic and tons of personality. The town even beat one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Barcelona, who placed 12.

The Forbes list qualified areas through advice from top travel experts for 2023. An important characteristic of each listed neighbourhood is that they offer local creatives to grow and Kalk Bay ticks that box perfectly. It is a wonderful hidden gem nestled on the False Bay coastline.

Aside from the spectacular sea views and interesting fishing community – it offers a laid back, retro atmosphere. It is home to surfers and outdoor enthusiasts and artists of every kind. You can venture there to explore the over head caves, catch waves or inspiration.

Blanketed with quaint cafés, rustic fishing boats and colorful storefronts, this vibrant harbour neighborhood is recently the talk of the city.

Local artists are given a platform to let their talent shine. “An intricate origami installation created by Kalk Bay local decorates the walls of the iconic café, which is just steps from the charming seal invaded wharf.

Home to some favourite local spots such as Brass Bell, Cape to Cuba and the idyllic Kalk Bay theatre – this fishing town has more to offer than meets the eye.

What is a pangolin?
Despite its scaly appearance, this species is a mammal, not a reptile. Its scales are actually made up of keratin, which accounts for about 20 percent of its weight. It has a small head and a long, broad tail. It has no external ears, but its hearing is quite good. It also has no teeth and instead possesses a gizzard-like stomach that is specially adapted for grinding food. To assist the grinding, this scaly creature consumes small stones and sand.

The Kunene Region of Namibia is a vast, rugged, and remote wilderness, home to a unique population of rhinos: the desert-adapted South-western black rhino (Diceros bicornis bicornis).

Heavily depicted in ancient cave art in the region, these animals have roamed this arid landscape for millennia. They are incredibly tough, able to go several days without drinking, and are one of the few animals that can feed on the highly toxic Damara milk-bush.

The wild dog is one of the world’s most endangered mammals. The largest populations remain in southern Africa and the southern part of East Africa (especially Tanzania and northern Mozambique).

Wild dogs are social and gather in packs of around ten individuals, but some packs number more than 40. They are opportunistic predators that hunt medium-sized ruminants, such as gazelles. In a sprint, African wild dogs can reach speeds of more than 50 miles per hour.

Pel's fishing owl
This majestic bird, revered as the “holy grail” of birding, bestows the Northern Kruger National Park with its elusive presence and is deserving of its grand reputation. Typically reserved and secretive, they are notoriously difficult to find. Many birders have spent years searching for it without success.

BEST IN THE WORLD, KEEP READING
Welcome to the African safari of your childhood daydreams. Packs of entertaining meerkats scurry across the sand, antelopes wander the dry river beds munching on thorny vegetation, and as dusk nears the implausibly large sun dips behind orange and white sand dunes leaving behind a star-filled sky. Best of all though are the predator sightings: prides of black-maned lions relaxing in the shade, spotted hyenas roaming in pairs and cheetahs prowling for their dinner.
